Game started at 4:00 PM.

At the end of the first quarter Greenwood and Estacado are tied at 7 all, but the Rangers are lining up for a 44-yard field goal.

Estacado struck first, capping a three-play, 50-yard drive with a 16-yard TD pass from Kyle Jackson to Jovan Anderson. But just two plays later, Greenwood caught the Mats defense off guard and hit Kinsey Wiliams for a 58-yard TD.

And as we start the second quarter, Greenwood pulls a fake field goal and scored a TD as holder Trey Edwards hits Blake McColloch on a 27-yard TD pass. Williams then runs in the two-point conversion to make it a 15-7 game.

Fake field goal, and a 2 point conversion??? Something wrong with the Gwood placekicker, or coach just being sneaky?
I like sneaky coaches!!! ;) We just get plain vanilla around here most of the time.:(

Estacado ties it with big play at half
September 12, 2008 – 5:21 pm

The Mats fell behind 20-7 in the second quarter as Greenwood scored on a fake FG, a safety and a field goal, seemingly taking complete control of the game.

But Estacado put together two big TD drives. Augustine Abigade’s 36-yard scamper on a draw play pulled Estacado to within 20-13, and Brylon Bradford capped a 41-second drive on the final play of the period when he caught a 9-yard TD on a slant from Kyle Jackson, tying the score at the intermission.

What looked to be a Greenwood runaway is suddenly a game again

Sounds like it may come down to which D makes the best 1/2 time adjustments to stop the opposing O.
GO RANGERS!

Tied at 27 going to the fourth
September 12, 2008 – 6:09 pm

Greenwood had a long drive to start the third quarter, capped by a 36-yard TD pass to Josh Cook.

But Estacado answered right back, going 49 yards in just 5 plays capped by a 2-yard TD run by QB Kyle Jackson to retie the score at 27.

Greenwood’s next drive ended at the Estacado 19, and Mark Burfeind’s 37-yard FG was wide right.

Starting the fourth.

Estacado gets a 6-yard TD run from QB Kyle Jackson and stuffs two Greenwood drives at midfield to hold on for a 34-27 win at Lowrey Field.

Big win for the Mats, who were looking for some success to go with the effort they’d gotten the first two weeks.

Now getting ready for the primetime matchup — No. 7 Odessa Permian at Motnerey. Should be a good one.
