Things go REAL bad in Houston...They have basically told their people NOT to leave to avoid traffic jams..so God forbid something really goes tragically wrong..will they blame the Federal Government?

My guess is they are trying to get everyone that is still there off the streets before it hits the fan. If someone were to take the blame though, I could only assume it would be the local government.

the point in telling people to stay home is so the people that actually live on the coast will have a chance to evacuate and not get stuck on the freeways. the people staying home will only experience a cat 1 hurricane which is not life threatening

I don't think there's even the potential for things to get "real" bad even it Houston is hit. 15" of rain in Houston will cause some flooding, but it won't put neighborhoods and buildings underground. New Orleans was a very unique situation with it's reliance on a dam and sea level.

how did those people die? did they lay on the beach and drown?

found this on wikipeda:
"Despite massive flooding damage to entire neighborhoods there were no drowning deaths in flooded homes. In the area, there were 12 deaths from driving, 6 from walking, 3 from electrocution, and 1 in an elevator."

that was in the houston area. when i said cat 1 hurricanes are not life threatening, it means as long as your not surrounded by swords or swimming in the gulf and you are in your house and boarded up, your house wont cave in on u

It is not about it being sound or not..it is about IF and again just an IF something were to go wrong, who would take the blame
