Not sure if this belongs in the "Cancelled/Rescheduled Games" or not...

but we expect UT to make an announcement tomorrow "mid-day" (the word given to us) about Saturday's home game against Arkansas.

If that coward Mack Brown has his way any SEC opponent would be canceled entirely. He'll want to re-schedule against Tarleton State in a half time side-show against Baylor. But it would be a WIN. The pollsters a'int fair either.

"Besides losing a payday, leaving home means this harsh reality for the SEC: It's pretty mediocre on the road. Since 1998, the SEC is 40-39 in nonconference road games. That mark drops to 24-31 at schools from BCS conferences. "

I will leave my arse hanging in the breeze here and I may be proven a fool. What is Mack Brown's record against the SEC or ranked teams? I am certain it is favorable for him but I just can't forget their National Championship year when the Longhorns played Ohio State early in the season and on national TV he said he wouldn't have scheduled such a big game , it was made by the previous regime and he had to abide by it. It seems Mack Brown wants to run thru the Big 12 and feels the Big 12 Champion should have a bye at the National Championship. If the Longhorns win the Big 12 it seems it will be incidental to the schedule, not because of it.

Well when you are playing 4 teams ranked in the top 13 on your conference schedule (most likely 5 with the big 12 championship) your not exactly breezing to the national title game by winning the conference now are you

Uhh, you might want to check your facts on this. Mack scheduled the game back when the BCS figured in strength of schedule. That's why Mack scheduled the game.

Mack came to Texas in 1998. Something tells me that the Ohio state game in 2005 wasn't scheduled quite that far in advance.

Mack Brown did not schedule that game, he said so himself. He recruited V. Young and hitched his wagon to Young, which was a good choice. Most NCAA games are scheduled far in advance.

Actually what he said was it made no sense for a top 5 team to schedule another top 5 team because it hurts far more than it helps

and he is basically right

that year if UT does not play OSU they stay at least 2nd the whole year till the Kansas State game which puts them in alot better position to be in a BCS game

Chill out jam. You obviously don't follow college football too closely. Which school has the most wins in the past ten years? You thought I'd say Texas, didn't you? It's Southern Cal. Guess which team is second? Yeah, that's right, it's Texas. Oh and the SEC, sure they're a good conference. No other conference in the country pays their players as well as L$U and some of those schools.

SEC: It's pretty mediocre on the road. Since 1998, the SEC is 40-39 in nonconference road games. That mark drops to 24-31 at schools from BCS conferences.

The Pac-10, which SEC fans conveniently shoo aside, is now 10-6 this decade against the SEC. Whereas the SEC is 1-6 at Pac-10 schools, the Pac-10 has gone 4-5 at SEC stadiums.

not going to argue with the numbers...but common sense tells me...that florida, lsu, georgia, alabama tennessee and auburn don't go on the road too much...my guess would be sc. ole miss, msu. vandy and arkansas play more on the road. the bottom feeders of the sec are still light years ahead of the bottom of the big xii.

No, the SEC is not the best conference on all of sports. How can you make a statment like that? I wouldn't say all the teams in the SEC buy players but I know of two high profile athletes that went to L$U at the last minute and all of a sudden they started driving Lincoln Navigators. I guess that's probably just a coincidence though.

OOOKAY...Umm...I just posted that because someone else mentioned LSU. No one doubts that there are plenty of athletes at many different schools getting paid. I know several myself who got paid. Heck I know a Texas Tech grad who always jokes about how the "West Texas Oilmen" step up to the plate when they really want a player to come to Lubbock.

Each conference has five teams in the top 13 (ten out of the top thirteen football programs in the country are out of two conferences). You want to argue who has the best bottom feeders in each conference? Let me do some research and see if the Big XII or SEC has the best "worst teams." Geez.

After you get past the top five teams in both the Big XII and the SEC, neither conference has another team ranked in the AP top 25. However, through two weeks of play, the seven bottom Big XII teams have a 12-2 record (A&M, BU, OSU, KSU, Neb, ISU,CU). The bottom seven teams in the SEC (Vandy, UK, UT, USC, Arky, UM, MSU) have a combined record of 9-4.

I know it's early, but it looks like the Big XII stacks up pretty well against the SEC. After the season maybe we can see how the two conferences do against one another in head-to-head matchups.

Granted this is just the sport of football, but that's all that matters this time of year. We can talk about baseball, basketball, golf, swimming/diving, and other sports at a later date. ;)

OK OK, Whether Mack Brown was the head coach when this game was scheduled it was scheduled and Brown is on the record being against it just minutes before it was even played. I am a huge Longhorn fan but my gripe is this; UT athletes are too pampered. They have a way out of wack sense of accomplishment and entitlement. I was standing in the south end of the Cotton Bowl one year before an OU game and the Longhorns were talking some serious cash $#it, then OU puncches them right smack in the face and UT spit the bit. Mental toughness is not part of Mack Brown's plan.
