This is absolutely correct...our boys will be dismissed from class at 2:30 today to prepare to travel to Giddings for the game tonight. I love football just as much, or more, than the next person but I'm questioning the necessity of this. We really need to be making preparations for a storm right now...but I will be there, regardless.

You probably don't have horses to move, as well as other animals, as well as the routine storm preparation types of things. It took almost a good two days of preparations before my family could leave and then the hours on the road...in bumper to bumper traffic, no gas, waiting in gas lines for six hours, plus multitudes of other issues...until you have to deal with ALL of these different things then please don't accuse me of being an alarmist...especially when you're a single parent and have no other adult to help you with handling all of these things...As big as this storm is, the effects from it will more than likely start late tomorrow or tomorrow night. I've been right in the middle of several storms...it's not a real good place to be!

Saturday seems like a long way away...but not really when there's tons to do.:eek:

I've been wondering why more games haven't been cancelled....isd's and coaches can't control when families decide to evacuate....I have been lucky and never had to leave an area for an emergency....but it seems like the coastal areas would really need their roads open for those leaving...........like I said never had to leave an area so I don't know how long it would take to clear out...but I do know I much rather drive on a nice clear day with light traffic then a crowded stormy day.....................all those in the area be careful and be smart.

The Javelina football game with Central Oklahoma, originally scheduled for Javelina Stadium Saturday in Kingsville, has been moved to Edmond, Okla., and will have a 2 p.m. kickoff.
The threat of Hurricane Ike forced the site switch.
Central Oklahoma has agreed to play the 2009 game between the schools in Kingsville.
The Javelinas will be playing their second consecutive game in Oklahoma, having met East Central last weekend in Ada. The team will be in Tahlequah, Okla., next weekend for a matchup with Northeastern Oklahoma.
With the change of the 2009 game with Central Oklahoma to Kingsville, the Javelinas will have seven home contests, including the first four in a row.
