Went to the University of North Texas, which is why UNT is often referred to as the "Mean Green" now despite having an eagle as their official mascot.

You know now I remember seeing his picture on the stadium and my dad telling me about him playing there.

I thought I had heard that he actually was raised in Heidenheimer, TX, which is south of Temple. I may be wrong but I think his grandmother lived there and up until they passed away that was the case.
