Just curious as to who all has a "tunnel", or Mascot type "blow up" thingy to run through before the game and before the 2nd half starts. Pretty much everyteam now adays does. Describe yours!!!

A big, blown up condom with a hole in the side of it that the players run through, representative of Trojan condoms.:D Actually it's just a red tunnel with a big trojan dude, guy, thingy on top. I have a picture of it that I can put on here sometime.

I can't post a pic here at work or I would. Hopefully one of the other fellas can. We have a tunnel at home (which is AWESOME) and a helmet at away games.

Celina doesn't trick up things like that.

For home games, the members of the QB Club line the area between the field house doors and the entrance under the stands. As each kid goes by, they get wished good luck, etc. When they get to the field the fans have it lined from the 50 to the corner of the end zone then to the goalpost.

For important away games, the members of the QB Club escort the players to the field by grabbing their hand and walking to the victory line.

We have had a tunnel for the last few years and last year they purchased a helmet....so now we have a tunnel that attaches to a helmet and the blues don't match....drives me nuts!!:p

For home games, we have the "Panther Club" kids (school age up to 6th grade) that run the field, then form a victory line leading up to the run-through sign. Away games, we just have a sign. :) Oh, and the "flag boys" should be in attendance tonight! :cheerl: :cheerl:

I honestly think these things are a waste of money. Play football first, looking good and having the coolest tunnel, uniforms, etc should come last.

I've heard for years that we had one a number of years ago. If it's true, it did us no good to look cool back then. Looking cool isn't in Coach Vance's vocab/agenda and the story is it was the second thing to "go" when he got here.

We need a Coach like that. We have some kids that look like a walking Nike or UnderArmor billboard with all the crap they have on and it's ridiculous. It really looks bad to have all this stuff and play like crap.

Coach Sandifer refused to give in to the masses who wanted one for ever, and last year gave in to some avid booster club moms. It is absolutely huge. I know he doesn't care much for it, but after participating in putting the "thing" up and being close by when the kids gather up in it. They think it's pretty cool, and for about 30 seconds before they come out they do seemed to get lathered up pretty good. I know it doesn't make them play any better but there are a lot of traditions that go along with High School football that don't directly add to your teams performance but are done every week and everyhere because of tradition. Example: Pep rallies - 1st period pep rallies, everybody has one and I don't think it fires anyone up to the extent that it will improve there performance. High School football in Texas is "HUGE" and there are a lot of rituals and traditions that seemingly are more for parents, students, and fans. These big blow up helmets and run throughs are just the latest fads. I don't have a problem with them.

Just my opinion:D

Lamest thing in sports. Unless the tunnel or helmet comes straight from the field house or somewhere where you cannot see the players before they run through it, what is the point?

The best set up I have seen was Ennis I think a few years ago at texas stadium. It was backed up right against the tunnel and was sealed off and filled with smoke. It started shaking and bouncing up and down then the players ran out.

We have a tunnel that directly comes from the Field House/Dressing Room... motorized tunnel door opens slowly...flashing lights...Smoke...Welcome ot the Jungle Blairing and hundreds of kids/fans wishing them good luck as they walk out...

The tunnel is huge. Built by Coach Freeman himself, as well as all the wrought iron fencing around the stadium.

We will actually be trying a new concept this year. Our boys will be coming in from the north end of the field where the new field house sits ( it has yet to be completed ), but we will have what we are calling "Steer Alley". A new cool concept developed by the booster club masterminds. We will still have the tunnel and helmet, but with lots more 'hooplah' in between the field house and the field. And no, the new scoreboard is not ready for tonight, but Clyde fans will get an idea of how big it will be by the steel construction behind the old original.:cheerl: :cheerl:

I know a lot of people like the tunnel, and I will admit it's very cool looking. However, I remember when we played there during playoffs for a couple of years that if we got home team, we didn't use the tunnel, the reason being that we'd rather get hyped up and run out of something than walk out. When you play another good team, walking out won't intimidate; it'll only slow the adrenalin (my opinion only).

Like I said, nothing against the tunnel, very cool looking; just wasn't our style.

I don't think an entrance will have ANY effect on the game. Unless of course player trip running out and fall over each other and sprain something

At Sealy, we just got a big inflatable Tiger head that the players run out of. We had talked about getting one for the past few years at booster club and it finally happened this year. I think it's kinda cute, but it's a new regime thing, our old coaching staff thought the fewer gimmicks the better. I think the kids like it, so it's okay with me. Just one of several changes the new staff has made, along with changing the markings on the field and the victory flag. As long as they don't change the handshake line after the game, I really don't care.

Buffgal

I really liked reading about all the helmets and traditions.

I was wondering about the victory lines, handshake lines that were posted, many saying that they lined the field from the 50 etc.

Things may have changed since our district changed this year but in the past, no one and I mean no one except cheerleaders were allowed on the field. This was home and away games.

I'm sure this was for security reasons but just wondering how other schools were allowing this????

Well there is something to our tunnel. It isn't just a tunnel. It is the Dallas Huston Walk of Champions named after Dallas Huston, our long time Radio Announcer (one of the best, if not, the best in the state). It means alot to our kids to have the privledge of walking through that tunnel on a Friday night. They watch the team as kids and when it is their turn, it means they have paid the price to be a Lion. Just another part of the Brownwood Mystique.

I understand that alot of teams wouldn't understand. It is like Notre Dame and running out of that tunnel. It is part of the Brownwood program (don't expect anybody else to really understand). It is a good show and entrance, but it is more than that to the players. It is trradition and it is time to get the adrenaline flowing!

Navasota has that "tunnel" that the boys walk through at the beginning of the game and as they're walking they have that video about respect on the jumbo tron. Woooo. But they still run through the old fashioned sign the cheerleaders make and then for the second half of play they run through a velcro sign with Navasota Rattlers on it and when they run through it it makes the fangs of a rattler. They've had that sign for years though. I remember them talking about getting a blow up thingy back in the day but they don't need to spend money on that- they have bigger issues to spend money on.

Thanks! Like tonight, at the start of the game, the players ran through a hand painted sign.....by students! At the start of the second half, they ran through a sign, velcroed , or whatever in the middle, to allow use over and over! I'm gonna have to get pictures on here!
