View Full Version : Two Point Conversions...Does your team use them?

It looks like we're going to be using them quite a bit at Madison this year...lol. We're on pace to go for two FORTY TIMES during the regular season. I suspect the total might be more than that though by season's end. We've had a kid off our soccer team kicking for us the last couple of seasons that was really good. Maybe they'll find another one in the halls this week, but I doubt it.

Like regular formation 2 point conversions or something like the swinging gate?

We hardly ever go for 2, but then again we only scored once last week :(

Either one, doesn't matter. We just lined up in a regular formation for ours, nothing special.

Teams should run the gate as a regular formation. Any team can take the gate to state in '08 ;)

Note---- That was against St. Pius.

The swinging gate is for suckers. If you don't have any lineman and your offense blows, then run the gate.

We run the gate sometimes. Just fun to do.

Seems to me Celina lines up in the swinging gate almost all the time for extra points. If the other team wants to just hand Celina 2 points, or is not prepared, the swinging gate sets up a huge mismatch.

We usually only go for 2 if we are trying to run it up. :D :D

It's a cool formation. It's one more thing the opponent has to prepare for and I think that's why the coaches put it in.

So what you're saying here is look for several 2pt. attempts against a certain team in your district? ;)

After watching Caldwell's kicker on Friday, they BETTER run two-point conversions or they'll see a lot of 12's and 18's this season. We have too many speedsters to not go for 2 every time, quite frankly.

I only remember when we did it against Teague.

I think a lot of coaches have too much pride to run it on a regular down because they think it's a gimmick. Shoot, if I only have 4 or 5 athletes and they've got some jets I'd be bustin' out the gate in a heartbeat.

NOTE: This does not mean I would use it all the time.
