Newton vs. Marlin Updates

On Newton's first possession of the night, they fumbled the ball on their own 15-yard line. Marlin scored on a 15-yard TD pass to take a 7-0 early lead with only seconds off the clock.

Newton came back to score with 6:22 left in the first quarter. On this drive, Newton's punt, on 4th down, struck a Marlin player and Jermaine Nash recovered the ball. Quarterback Joe McLemore connected to Kedrin Seastrunk for the 9-yard TD. The PAT was good. With 3:30 left in the first peroid of play, Marlin scored on a 26-yard pass play. The PAT was good.

Newton gave up a safety early in the second quarter. On this drive, Newton got the ball on their own 4-yard line and on first and ten Newton was trapped in the end zone for the 2-points, 10:38 into the second quarter.
