nm, I see you are as old as my little brother. You were young and probably didn't care about it at the time. At my age, it was BIG news! Probably helps that I am from the area and not across Texas though...

i'm glad we stopped them in 90 before they started their run.that 90's team was tabbed as the best team in 3a that year.but they ran into a Yoemen team in Brenham spoiled all their fun..:D

4 year span 64-1, their only loss to La Grange which began the Tye Gunn era.

I remember that muddy game at Brule Field in Navasota back in 2002 that the Rattlers put the first shutout on the Tigers in something like 19 years. Then got embarrassed by them a few years ago 55-0.:( You can't keep this Sealy team down. They will always come back strong after down years.

Don’t remember the La Grange quarterback that night, but don’t believe it was Gunn. He came later. I think he was a freshman when La Grange played Sealy in the Dome the first time. The Sealy-La Grange rivalry was special and their coaches, Mills and Valastro, added to the flavor. Actually the Sealy record was 63-1 those four years. A book including Sealy’s four-year run will come out real soon.

I remember the 4 peat Sealy teams, but more than that I remember back in 78 I believe when they were 2A and put a stompin on West down in Austin the quarterfinals.....with Eric Dickerson! Unbelievable.

I believe Celina won four-in-a-row '98, '99, '00 and '01 in 2A. Those two are the only ones. Having been here and seeing every one of those Sealy games was quite something. If you were a sports fan, those were exciting times. However, somehow it didn't make quite the impression on many of us until years later. All one needs to do is look at all of the great teams and athletes right here in our area such as Columbus, Bellville, Branham and Navasota and they haven't been able to win a state football crown. And they have had great teams! It takes something special, coaching, players and I believe above all a bit of good fortune and luck.

Add SLC, '02-'05. It's a VERY impressive accomplishment to have that type of success at the high school level. :)

...and they lost in the finals in '99 after their star running back was injured in the first quarter.

Katy defeated Southlake Carroll 16-15 in the championship game in 2003. They didn't win four in a row, however, their run is remarkable. From 2002 - 2006 Southlake played in the championship game every year and won it four of those five years. All were after two championships were declared in each division. Sealy's championships came when there was only one championship game in their classification.

Now I just have to figure out who the 10th team is.

Why yes it is...and if you add the state championship from 1978, then we have 5...Katy just got its fifth this past year! That is how impressive Sealy has been...
