An interesting study done by the person from Everman.....I think it might be accurate to average only the District games, since some folks play 4A's and top 5 teams in the preseasons. Also, if you were to divide the number of players utilized on offense during the games-you would see who is just trying to dance to the Pollsters Formula's, and not training adaquate backups for the Postseason run. I averaged the offenses of two teams that I am very interested in, on just their District results, thus far-Barber's Hill averaged 37 points and plays approximately 25 players on offense, while Bridge City averaged 35 points and plays 30 players on offense during district games.

bulldog65, that was an informative effort. Thanks.
Everman is still tops on offense, and they deserve to be there. It's funny that Kennendale is no. 2.
Can you post the url to Jerry's power ratings? I love all polls...

wharton may not score many points every game, but they can at any time easily put 50 up on the board.

Sure SintonFan, link is: http://www.texaspowerratings.com/
He also has a cool playoff scenario he updates each week. Sure hope we get the chance to meet again in the finals, that was a lot of fun last year and you guys have a real classy program! Seems like the way everyone is talking on this board neither one of us has a chance!

I like his "playoff prediction" page too.

He's got La Vernia and Port Isabel going at it in the 3rd round, and has "no pick" for it (but he has La Vernia advancing because of barely higher power rating) What do you all think of that matchup?

i think diboll would be up there. i dont think offensive power houses are made from stats that they are made out of the players and how good and how much class a team has and not to go run up the score on ppl and get there name in teh papers. most of those top ppl dont have class they just keep scoring to make there self look good. Jeez have some class. last game we had to make up plays not to score.

Yup in theor 3 non-district games Everman played 2 4A's and a 5A sized school...think about this if Everman woulda left thier starters in for the second half of the last 3 district games how many points would they be averaging?? Of course I'll be honest other than Kennedale the district isn't that strong but still Everman has to have one of the best offenses in the state..

this is the way we ball

ok Old Cardinal....see if this little bit of quick info appeases you. Everman has used 14 ball carriers this yr to carry the ball 2535 yds with 36 TD's, 2 qbs and 5 recvr's. thats 21 people used at the "skill positions" I won't even try to divide up line play because I don't think they keep statistics on that. Needless to say its easy to see Everman doesn't leave people in blowouts just to pad stats. They have 4 players that account for majority instead of 1 back and they spread it around so that noone on the team yet has over 1000 yds rushing even though the team has over 2500 yds rushing.

Sometimes one team cant help but run up the score when their opponent is just too weak. I dont know for sure about Everman, or Sinton, or Burnet but I would guess that they are doin the same thing that Jasper is doing. That being playing their starters only long enough to get the game in control and then putting in their 2nd, 3rd, and sometimes 4th string players. And I would also think that the play calling gets very conservative when this happens, now if the opposing team still can not stop the non-starters then there is nust not much else that can be done.

I know for a fact that has been a problem for Everman...their backups and in some cases JV squad are excellent players and when they get in the game they wanna do well...you can't tell em not to score..LOL
I am thinking tonights game against Godley could be like that...by the way from my unofficial count Everman has played over 40 guys on offense..it may be close to 50..

PEACE Everman people PEACE.....My comments were about the whole list of folks, not Everman per se. I think Everman has done a fine job! As I look at the whole list, I see teams that just can't advance in the Post season because of their lack of strategy during the beginning of the season. There will be a lot of "shooting star" teams, that will poop out as they get skill people hurt toward the end of the year. Everman, Barber's Hill, Sinton, Forney, Bridge City,Snyder, Jasper, Wills Point, and a few others in Division I- will not be among them! I could also name the Division II teams that have a good Post Season strategy, but I might miss some and that would cause a commotion.

SO, WILL BURNET BE ONE OF THOSE D1 SCHOOLS TO POOP OUT?

Old Cardinal
10-25-2002, 04:04 PM
I can go only on folks that I consider that have good savvy. The predictions seem to be that Sinton will poop out Burnet in Region IV and the winner of- Forney or Wills Point, will poop out Gainesville in Region II. That does not mean thet these are not good teams,however...If things fall as expected, Jasper wins Region III and Everman wins Region I, but not a District Championship.
