... but that still doesn't answer obvious concerns about speed and the other four dozen fundamentals of the game that doesn't involve hitting.

They scored more points than Celina

guess I was just a little shocked since New Waverly is a little 2A school. No worries.

Nunya,

Why are you concerned? Are you concerned about Celina's speed and fundamentals? Not being a jerk, just want to know.

Nope, just responded to what sounded like a previous poster was downplaying the possibility that New Waverly outplayed them.

You don't have to say previous poster, you can say Snyder325Tigers!:D Don't be so upset because they got outplayed, like I said it happens to everyone.i know Celina is supposed to be the biggest and baddest team ever, but no one will think any diff. of them:rolleyes:

I'll give credit where credit is due. New Waverly played well and beat us. Hats off to them!

New Waverly has 3 really big time athletes who made plays in that game.

hmmm, then that could bode well for Caldwell given how well its team did in its 5 TD's to 2 scrimmage against New Waverly

7-7 is different than regular football.

speaking in terms of speed regarding 7-on-7.

Most of Caldwell's scores this year could be 40-somethings to 30-somethings, some predict.

Same way anybody loses. The other team scores more points.

You're kidding, right? 7 on 7 is nothing like real football. It is absolutely no indicator of how good a football team will be. Football games are won and lost on defense and the offensive line. Since those things are not on the field during 7 on 7 all excitement and also disappointment should be tempered with a HUGE dose of reality.

Still amusing that Celina (which raves about winning 7-on-7 titles in the past and how its an indicator that others better "look out" for the upcoming seasons) got smacked by a team whose school has 270 students.

7 on 7 success is irrelevant to how a team will perform when it counts

The reality is that regardless how well Celina performs in 7 on 7, they are not going to throw the ball in the regular season. 2007 total pass attempts were 207. Most teams do that in a 6-7 games not 16. Passing only accounted for 4.2 pts per game.

Pass rush is what has been the difference maker against the passing teams. 7 on 7 does not allow for this huge factor. If they develop a pass rush like they had last year, they will contunue to shut down great passing teams.

I doubt you can produce much evidence that many people in Celina considered our 7 on 7 state championships an indicator that another fall title would follow. However, winning the summer tournament is something any school/community should be proud of. Most of us see 7 on 7 as just another piece of the puzzle, along with off season conditioning as a way to get ready for the real games.

I would also guess that most teams "look out" for Celina when the real games start, regardless of our 7 on 7 performance.

Seems like you are digging pretty deep to find something negative to post about Celina. If you truly find our loss in a 7 on 7 game amusing, I would say you are easily amused.

7 on 7 competition "can" be a good indicator of how your "skill" positions will fare during the upcoming year. It is most certainly not the "end all" and "be all" for traditional football seasons.

As it has been mentioned, fall football games are won in the trenches on the o-line and d-lines. Also, as mentioned earlier, Celina traditionally does not rely heavily on its passing game.

It may have been a previous topic...but, how many teams have won a football title and a 7 on 7 title in the same year?

Celina has done it twice and Tyler Lee did it

does it matter? celina has won state titles with or without winning titles in 7-on-7.

the bobcats will be fine
