Smoking wasn't what Janis was known for, it was for downing a bottle of Southern Comfort during live performances. Most of the songs tended to get a little sloppy at the end of the concert.

I saw a documentary on the Biography channel about her. They
pretty much said she was down for whatever and I do mean whatever.
