They are still working to get the telegraph lines hooked up there.

I think the verdict is still in the air. They have a great program at Caldwell, but this could be a down year for the Hornets. Then again, this is high school football. You never know what you are going to get.

word is that Caldwell went 4-4 with Lexington. Offense looked good, which everyone expected. Defense struggled, which is also to be expected. Look for the Hornets to put lots of points on the board. They are in year 3 of running the slot-T. They have been running it at all levels, so they can now plug in parts (when folks graduate). They are replacing much of their offensive backfield, but have quality kids to slot in. I heard defensively they are breaking in a bunch of "Thursday night" players, and they just need time to develop. Bellville in 0 week is going to be a huge mountain to climb. I see then in a similar spot that Liberty Hill was in around '04. They will have to put a bunch of points on the board (which they can) because they will also be giving up a bunch. They host New Waverly tonight.

Are they starting a freshman @ QB and RB?

They are starting a senior (who was the back up last year) at QB, a junior at FB, a junior at HB, and a senior at TB. Swingman from last year is now the strong end, and a sophomore is the starting swingman.

Caldwell won the "live" quarter session of their scrimmage with New Waverly 19-6. They did it in typical slot-T fashion. Lots of powers and traps. Only downer was that they missed two extra points. Look for great things from the Hornet offense this year
