One of the top guns for region 2 will be Mckenzie from the Gilmer Buckeyes. He has nice arm strength, good foot speed, and makes good decisions most of the time.Coach said his senior leadership is definitely emerging even as early as the first week of practice.

Here is Derek McKenzie taking the snap in the shotgun last week. The fellow looking on at the extreme right named Andrew Hines is a pretty fair athlete as well, to say the least.

I have to agree once again with old dragon. McKenzie stepped up and made all-district as a junior last season. In a head-to-head matchup with the ballyhooed Ricky Joe Meeks of Mount Vernon, Derek and Company trounced the Purple Tigers, 26-3, snapping a 14-game MV winning streak on its home field. In order not to embarrass Meeks, the powers-that-be declared him district MVP on offense after the season, but McKenzie was clearly the best QB.

Derek is as dangerous a runner as he is a passer, and I echo the sentiment that he usually makes good decisions in that regard.

McFarlin and company will be pretty good in Daingerfield. Coaches say that we're weeks ahead of last year. And also, we'll be running the same offense the whole year. Last year we switched from a Spread offense to Wishbone during week 10 and were pretty successful with it.

I know you guys are talking about Region 2 but bryan barrett has looked really good (including seven on seven). He has the supporting cast to be one of the best quarterbacks.
