Anything new about your team. I finally got to see Celina practice friday and saturday. We looked pretty good our Oline looks to be a little small avg weight about 230 lbs. We do have some very big linebackers and the secondary looks good.

230 pounds per man doesn't sound to small to me. My senior year in HS, our line averaged about 200 pounds.

3 PEOPLE INJURED IN OJ THOMAS CELEBRATION SHOOTING 2008-08-10
(CAMERON) Cameron police say at least 3 people were injured during a shooting early (this) Sunday morning at 8th street and Martin Luther King during a street party that culminated the annual OJ Thomas reunion in Cameron. According to a police department spokesman, the shooting happened just after 1:30 a.m., when an unknown suspect fired shots in a crowd of hundreds of people.

3 people and one Cameron police officer were injured. Police say at least one person was transported by helicopter to Scott and White Hospital in Temple. The others hurt were treated at Central Texas Hospital in Cameron.

According to police, the unknown shooter has not been identified, and police are looking for help. Anyone with information can call Milam County Crimestoppers at 888-697-TIPS, or Detective, Kris Stringer with the Cameron Police Department.

There were 4 other arrests during the early morning hours following the shooting for unrelated offenses, including, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, minor in possession of alcohol and carrying a prohibited weapon.



Note: Not that it matters but for clarification, OJ Thomas was the second high school before integration.

How many athletes showed up? I have 35 playin 6 and 7 year old ball. Always crazy.

Robinson Rockets - 144 reported first day. Young varsity team, only 7 starters back from last year.

42 freshmen

Only 6 returning starters off last year's 14-1 team, 5 on defense and 1 on offense.

Yeah. His name is Jimmy Unitas. I think he's the grandson of the late great Johnny Unitas. His family moved to Gilmer before last season from Maryland, I believe. He will be a freshman this year. I hear he's already throwing the ball 65+ yards in the air and runs a 4.4 40 with good instincts. A buddy told me he throws the ball consistently through a size 15 tire at 40 yards and throws the ball at least 45 yards in the air on the run off his front foot. Needless to say, he will be a force to be reckoned with and is just waiting in the wings for his chance.

Kids name is Luke Turner , he is a coach's son (has been on staff for years) He is about 6'1" 180. He will probably be on varsity. Will start at either lb or safety. Maybe qb. Just what I have been told

Yeah, I remember hearing his name last year. I heard he was some sort of phenom or something. Will he be playing on the varsity this year, or will he be the QB for the freshman team?

I ain't buying it either. Stump WILL be the starting QB for the next 2 seasons unless, God forbid, he gets injured or something. I can see Luke taking over that position after Stump graduates, kinda like Manuel Johnson did after Derek McKenzie graduated.
