What was the year back in the 1970s I think

That the USA Mens's basekball team got royally screwed?

I forgot who they lost to but it made big news

Had something to do with them putting time back on the clock and the team got extra chance and won

I watched it. They did get "SCREWED".

BUT, they should not have put themselves in that position to begin with. Their FG and FT shooting was way below par. If they had just hit their averages, they would have won by 20.

doug collins of coaching, nba fame was on that team....he frequently talks about the experience....

Saw a special on it on HBO a few years back the Americans all still refuse to take their silver medals. Also the Soviets sent in a player to start a fight and get the United States best big man out of the game if memory serves.
