Luckily they can just rant a van and get 17 mpg as opposed to a bus getting 6

TRN Kickoff Classic

Wichita Falls Memorial Stadium

Thursday August 28th 7:30 PM

Sweetwater vs. Burkburnett

After reading Wichita Falls Times Record News I think there's
only one game played.

This is what it said about last year's game. Notice it says game
not games.

The 2007 Times Record News Kickoff Classic football game featured the Holliday Eagles and the Windthorst Trojans Thursday night at Memorial Stadium.

Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic, Tyler

Notes: Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium will host another lineup of heavyweights: Gilmer vs. Jasper, Tyler Lee vs. Lufkin and Tyler John Tyler vs. Texarkana, with a fourth game a possibility. All six of the high schools slated for '08 have played for at least one state championship in the 2000s. Three of the six schools in the 2007 event played for a state championship last December (Tatum, Gilmer and Euless Trinity). This is the same event which has attracted San Diego Mira Mesa, Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna (Florida state champions in 2005) and Las Vegas Bishop Gorman (Nevada state champions in 2007), since 2004. No intimidators in this event.

August 28-29-30

Champions Classic, Abilene

Notes: The Shotwell Stadium tripleheader will include Abilene Cooper hosting San Francisco (Calif.) Reardon, Duncanville vs. Odessa Permian and Abilene vs. Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central. Permian was considered for a season-opening tripleheader in Florida and would have been matched against Miami's Booker T. Washington, but opted to stay closer to home. Glades Central traveled to Abilene for a 7-on-7 event last summer, loved the atmosphere of West Texas Football and is one of the most athletic programs in Florida.

I don't know if the Champions Classic in Abilene is still a go or not. I have checked some of these teams schedules and don't see the out of state teams on there.

The Champions Classic is still on but not with the California teams. They have been replaced with Texas teams, from the DFW area I think. The California teams hired a firm to conduct a fundraiser to pay for their travel to Texas. They didn't come trough, so the trips were cancelled. It's not near as exciting now as it was going to be.

If you love Texas High School Football, you shouldn't have much trouble finding a game or games to attend this weekend. At least next week they'll be football scores to talk about.
