Had been in failing health for a while, but still continued to do games as recently as 3 days ago

I always liked Skip's deadpan and sometimes sarcastic humor. Especially in the 80's when the Braves were awful.
My favorite Skip quote came from a game in which they were drubbing the Florida Marlins (while showing a shot of Marlins manager Jack McKeon)..............
"The bases are loaded and McKeon wishes he was too"

sad story indeed, but I was never a big fan of him to be honest.

In later years, there was no love lost between Skip and Milo Hamilton, who took some shots at Harry Caray in his book. Each time the Braves/Astros would be on TBS, Skip would find a way to take some sort of verbal jab at Milo.
