View Full Version : How many hours of sleep do you average a night?

I just cannot seem to sleep past 6 hours or so.

If I go to bed at 10, I am wide awake by 4. Which is why I usually go to bed around midnight, watch Nancy Grace and then go to sleep to get up at 7.

Nancy Grace can get on my last nerve pretty quick, so I'm watching something else. But I seldom go to bed before midnight either. And I'm usually up by 5:30. But I'll go back to bed on days off, and can sometimes get another couple hours sleep. But if I force myself much beyond that, I will feel sluggish and lazy all day for some reason.

 Where's the one with between 5-6 hours? That's usually where my night's sleep falls. I usually end up falling asleep around 11:30 and get up about 5 to 5:15. Unless you include weekends where I usually sleep in to about 6:30 or 7. I rarely sleep any later than 7, even on weekends.

5-6 if I am lucky.

5-6 maximum. Any more that that and my back requires traction. Too many hours sitting hunched over in an Army Helicopter.

I haven't slept a full night since I was 45, i guess it comes with age and responsibility.

Weekends are when I want to sleep late and I always wake up early! Earlier than I do on weekdays!

It's because you know you don't have to do anything if you don't want to.

I get 4-5.. Usually I try to go to sleep around 10:30 or 11, have to be up by 6 but Taylor ends up waking up for some reason or another a few times a night and then it takes me a while to get back to sleep.

Longest I have ever slept was from noon till 8 am the next morning and i had been up for 24hrs cooking for our bbq for band that we did my freshman year. We would cook all the food over night, then had to turn around and go serve the food the next day.

Used to only get a couple of hours a night. I went out and spent four grand on a Tempurpedic (sp)? mattress, and now I sleep as long as I want. Best investment I have ever made in my life.

I am probably a 5-6 hour sleeper more than 6-7, but that wasn't an option.

I did the bread route gig for 10 years. Hard work, but the smell is heaven... Used to put in 70 hrs per week. Was off Wed. and Sun. Slept late on Wed. and Sun...

since this is a "sleep" thread - I'll ask this question........

how many of you have a CPAP or nighttime breathing machine? If so, has it helped you? Mr44 is going in for his 2nd sleep study tonight and being fitted for his.

Trashman

I don't have one yet, but have friends that do. I am getting mixed reports from them; some say that they work great and other not so well. Tell Mr. 44 good luck in his next sleep study.

My dad got a CPAP machine about a year ago and he said he hasnt slept this well in 20 years. He said he actually wakes up fully rested in the mornings on about 8 hours of sleep. and when he puts on his mask at night it takes no longer than 5 minutes to fall asleep. It took him a while to get use to the air blowing down his nose but he said after about a week it was okay. They are a good investment.
