Many people consider the last battle of the Civil War to be fought near Brownsville in May 1865 after the war was actually over but communications took longer back then as they had no tv or radio or telephones. The North had some ships in the bay near Brownsville and sent some soldiers into the inland to attack Southern troops and strongholds. The Southerns were alerted by Mexicans across the border and attacks the Northernors. It was said there was some firing on the Union Troops from across the border but it was not confirmed. It was a Southern victory as the Union army retreated back to its' ships.

Was this more newsworthy than Dolly? Sounds like neither the hurrican nor the skirmish caused any casualties?
