Right now in Texas on Tuesday (7-22-08) it is 12:40 P.M. In China it is 1:40 A.M. on Wednesday (7-23-08).

In other words China is 13 hours ahead of us if my math is correct.

This is correct, I looked it up. But this seems odd to me. If there is 24 hours in a day, how can our time differ by more than 12 hours?

Must be daylight savings time that has it screwed up I guess.

Or you can think of it as China being 11 hours behind us +1 whole day.

The only place where no place in the world could differ by more than 12 hours would be in Greenwich England (and everywhere that shares that time zone), as the International Date Line would be exactly 12 hours away going both East or West.
