Best 3A High School Defense?

Decatur has allowed 13 total pts in their first three games. However even though Gainsville has allowed 26 total in three games I still think they may have the overall edge.

So far Newton's defense looks to be one of the best. They have yet to be scored on and have only allowed 240 yards in 2 games. They will be tested this week, but I think the defense will be the reason they will beat Bridge City. Houston Alphonso had athletes that should have been able to get some yards on most people, but Newton's secondary posted 4 interceptions and shut them down to only 110 yards of offense.

A good Giddings team beat Newton last yr but go back and look at the stats and they will tell a different story.

Gidding won last year on a trick play (halfback pass), late in the fourth quarter. Newton's D held their own in a hard fought game.

I think La Vernia has a great pass defense. They allowed 12yds. agianst Hondo, and -17 yards against Midland Christian. That's very good in my mind. For you math people that's -2.5 passing yrds allowed a game!

i'll tell all you newton people the truth, giddings flat out coached newton on that night last year, if newton had the buffs staff from last year the eagles would have won the whole thing easily. ask barbay if giddings can throw the football, but better yet how about'how they shut down that sweep that everyone else has trouble with.

That's what everybody thought about Sinton last year too. Right up to the time they met Everman in the D1 state final.

and what happened, thats what i thought, sinton barely beat bellville, giddings beat bellville 6 tds to 1 earlier last year. It was a track meet running across the lines and in the end zone

Ohhhhhhhh! Well excuse me! I guess the news media, the UIL and everybody else in the State of Texas was wrong when they convinced me that Bellville was UNDEFEATED until they met Sinton for the R4 championship. What do YOU think happened in the state final?

I don't know about this Mindy character. Congratulations to Giddings LAST YEAR. GET OFF OF IT GAL. Sinton is good and Bellville was undefeated last year until they played Sinton.

Hey Mindy, Sinton's team is probably one of the fastest teams in 3A. I don't know what you're talking about when you say they have no speed. They matched up with Everman's speed pretty good in the championship game. In fact, they were winning until a few fumbles in the 2nd half. I'd have to say they had ALOT of speed ( Not just SOUTH TEXAS SPEED, they have anywhere in Texas speed)

Hee Hee, I was going to try to convince her we got a herd of turtles at Sinton. She already believed the stereotype, should have been easy! http://bbs.3adownlow.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://bbs.3adownlow.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://bbs.3adownlow.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Mindy is refering to much earlier that year, as in the first scrimmage when Bellville played Giddings.

Before the season started last year Bellville didnt do too well in their scrimmages, but I guess they pulled it together because they won 12 straight actual games before losing a hard game to Sinton.

Giddings was pretty good last year, and I wish Bellville would have had a chance to meet back up with them in a real game, I bet the results would have been different.

i think ro castleberry has the best run defense in the north texas area. they held bowie to 49yrds on 30 carries for an average 1.63 a carry, they did have a lapse against a strong boyd team allowing 81 yards on 26 carries for and average of 3.12 a carry but this might have been due to the lose of a starting will lb benched due to a suspension and lose of a starting mike lb lose due to injury in the final minutes of the bowie game, they did however bounce back against ferris allowing only 24 yards on 24 carries

I think Mindy needs to take a chill pill. She has no idea what she's talking about. Oldbuff78 knows more about football and more about Giddings football than she will ever hope to know.

for some reason, and correct me if im wrong, but everytime i see any of mindy's posts, i get this image of a 12 year old girl, playing with barbies, wearing her spice girl shirt and whos dad is a coach at giddings. and she thinks giddings is just soooo great bc her dad is a coach there or something, so she thinks she knows everything about nothing. i dont know, maybe thats just me talkin.

North Lamar's defense has been salty. They held Winnsboro to zero points, and Paris to 16 when they've been averaging about 40 per game. Longview Pine Tree has put the most points on them with 24. I watched the Winnsboro game, and the defense was on the field for 3 full quarters and still held including goal line stand with 4 plays inside the 5. The offense can't piss a drop and the defense has been great considering the time they've spent on the field.

Gainesville's Defense has only allowed 1 touchdown all season on a hail mary pass.. all the other points came off an interception, 2 field goals, and a punt return
