Who's gonna win??? I think an American Leaguer is gonna win because they are used to Yankee Stadium. I'll have to go with Josh Hamilton or Evan Longoria. But look out for Lance Berkman or even Chase Utley!!!

Is anybody watching the HR derby right now? JH is destroying the competiton.

He is currently at 24 Hr's and the 2nd closest is Berkman at 8.

Wow. He is quickly becoming one of my new favorite players.

This is surreal.

What Astros fans want to compare Pence to Hamilton now?

Amazing performance by Hamilton. I feel just as good for Mr. Counsil. That has to be quite a thrill to be 71 years of age and out there pitching at Yankee Stadium.

Hamilton is great, theres no doubt, but do you really think the home run derby is a complete measuring stick for a player's all around abilities? Based on that logic Josh Hamilton is the greatest player of all-time because he has hit more home runs in the derby than anyone in the history of the HR derby? :thinking:

No one is comparing him to Mays, Ruth, or Aaron. But they did compare him to Mantle.

Plus with 95 RBI's at the break and with the performance tonight, he is in a class above Pence (and I like Pence).

But if you can still show that you would pick Pence over Hamilton, go for it.

Josh Hamilton at the break:

* Avg .310
* HR 21
* RBI 95
* Runs 60
* SB 7
And a execellant outfielder with speed. He's like a football player 6'4" and 235 pounds.

to be fair, Pence is still growing and we dont know what he will become...Hamilton appears to be there already (if he isnt then he will beome one of the greatest)....at this point Hamilton is better than Pence, but its one year and a lot can happen between now and their respective retirements, even Richard Hidalgo hit over 40 homers in a year....that said the smart money is on Hamilton having the better career at the moment w/ Pence being very good but a level behind....

I found that odd. I agree w/ your assessment. It just goes to show that a man w/ a little confidence a mission and a faith in something can do.

So I guess I was the only one to pick Morneau to win it? :)

I'd have rather seem Hamilton win it though. No one is going to remember Morneau winning this year after Hamilton's first round performance.

Hamilton is a winner regardless of the outcome. He overcame some terrible obstacles in his life. He's playing the game that he loves. He's put his life story out there for the world to hear. He's on a team that loves him and accepts him for who he is. But most of all he has the unrelenting love of God that will sustain him for the rest of his life. Who could ask for more.
