China Spring?????

What happened to China Springs? They are not in the tourney anymore? If they bowed out who got their spot?

No idea who got their spot. Coach Bell said on the radio show a few weeks ago that it was so that we wouldn't have to deal with injuries. Also it would allow all those playing to rest up before two-a-days started. That's what the man said. Not sure exactly why he would do that, but those are his reasons. But we've never played in the state tournament before regardless of whether or not we make it. So that's kinda odd in itself. And no it wasn't videotaping. LOL!!!! That's a funny reference though. I remember that issue.

Kirbyville took their spot and China Spring did play in the State Tournament in 2001....too bad they aren't coming to state because they are very good

Yeah I really don't understand why we don't. Cause you're right, we are pretty good and could make some noise. I don't know. It's Bell's call. Can't fault him for being concerned with the well being of the players.

What is wrong with some kids coming into 2 a days in excellent shape?

The only things I can even imagine is that the CS coaching staff is on vacation and doesn't trust the 7 on 7 coach.

Or ... that the coaching staff does not want to expose the team that is supposed to be the most prolific passing attack in 3A being handed a loss before the season begins. Thus, crushing the confidence of the team in their offensive scheme. :thinking:

Possibly a combination of the two? :confused:

They knew it was pointless because Brownwood was going to shut out every team in the tourney

I think its more the fear of injury than anything else...maybe CS has a few kids who are taking vacation which will hurt depth etc.....I can say I doubt China Spring is asked to host a SQT next year...which is a shame because they run a great tournament

Yeah I would be scared about injury too. Especially since Mike has already torn an ACL before.
