Great computer. Anyone with 2k laying around I recommend buying one. Totally out does my Dell XPS and is a grand cheaper.

Just got mine last month and it's an awesome computer!

Here's mine next to my old 2001 iMac. What's sad is it dwarfs my 19" flat screen TV which is just outside the frame of the pic

ill admit, the mac os is pretty good - and their computer designs are pretty slick - but if you take the same components and put them in a regular box - it would cost less than half the price you paid for it.....

they have their advantages, but overall, macs are a ripoff dollar-wise....

Can't speak for turbostud but absolutely no remorse here. I realize a large part of the cost is going for that brand name but it's worth it for me avoiding the endless service calls that I've always had when dealing with a custom rig or any Windows OS.

windows xp pro with the service packs is probably one of the most stable operating systems available today - yes, it had its troubles in the beginning, but with the longevity it has had, it is pretty good....

im looking at it from a university standpoint though, for some operations it might not be ok - but i'd be willing to bet, that for 90% of computers users, xp pro provides all the functionality anybody could need....

people have this vision that mac's are invincible, that they don't get viruses or that parts don't break - well of course they do, there are plenty of viruses for macs and they use the same drivers, processors, ram, dvd drives, etc that dell, hp, and gateway use....
but since the market share belongs mainly to pc's, you dont hear as many horror stories....

that being said, if i could talk my boss into buying me a macbook, i would get one.....

I have a imac, and it's awesome. We do a lot of sports photography and the 24'' screen realy helps. Very fast too!

Anytime you build your own computer you are going to save dinero. I just dont have the time and knowledge to do it. My 15 year old does but he's in drivers ed, summer school , and he's chasing girls so he doesnt have the time at the moment.

I just got the black macbook about a week and a half ago and i love it. It's very fast and i think it was worth the $1700. Not to mention the free iPod touch that came with it :)
