Klein Forest was one of 30 high-school football teams from around the nation selected to play in the Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Football Series.

The event, which will consist of 15 games at three locations over a two-day span, pits Klein Forest against Warren Howland (Ohio) on Aug. 30 at the Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The teams will meet at 10 a.m.

Warren Howland went 11-1 last season, while Klein Forest went 10-2 before falling in the area round of the postseason to eventual Class 5A Divsion II state finalist Pflugerville.

The Kirk Herbstreit Challenge, which has been held in Ohio for the past three years, expanded this year to include a series of competitions in Texas.

Four games will be Fawcett Stadium, seven games will be held at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, home of the Bengals, and four games will be held at Texas Stadium in Irving.

Other Texas schools competing in the series are Arlington Bowie, Cedar Hill, Justin Northwest and Mansfield Timberview. The complete series schedule can be found at www.herbstreitfootballseries.com.
