Brookshire Royal?

Best in 26-3A?

I just don't see that happening.

I think Sweeny and Wharton will both be better and neither of them is on the top 100.

wharton, no Wharton is better than you give them credit for. They had an EXTREMELY dissapointing season. They play every team hard, every year with the exception of last.

Brookshire sorta broke out of their shell a little when they beat Columbus, but c'mon.

royal isn't exactly a horrible team

they have had some success, even if most of it came in 2A

you have to start winnning somewhere

that whole district is usually very competitive, and i know several teams had hard seasons last year, but i think royal can take it

besides, given that i am a region 2 guy, i'm not going to sweat a little disagreement with south and central texas

It's all good.

I wa just looking to get your opinion on them and why so high.

I agree and they could make a push, I'm just used to watching em get stomped even though they have moved forward some as of late.

Must agree, Royal is going to be pretty salty. Especially if they find some linemen. THey also have the coach that took them to the finals and semi-finals in 2-A several years back.

(the skill kids are there in Royal)

I like where you have some people.....and then others look way out of place. Don't know that I'd have Navasota above Cuero until they prove they belong there. (I DO believe Navasota is on the rise and headed somewhere great). Again, same with Sealy..they are definitely on the rise, but have they arrived yet? There are SEVERAL teams you have listed below West Oso that would DESTROY them. (What gives with all of the West Oso love? They are a slightly above average team from a below average district) West Columbia will have to prove to me they belong, because after watching they last year and hearing all of the hype for this upcoming season, they must have some ace in the hole up their sleeve I didn't see last year. (I don't care how young they were last year, I was not impressed by the 40-7 or whatever it was stomping I saw)
I know Farmersville won a 2A state title last year....but .....I guess we'll have to see how they handle the step up.....

i don't think farmersville will go far in the playoffs, but i do think they will make it there and be respectable--so anywhere between 30-50 is good for them

a lot of people don't have cuero in the top 10, so i figured i had them on the high end

i like them. i also think Navasota IS very good, but not proven enough yet to be placed above the big three

i think a lot of people look at this and say "wow they are ranked pretty high"about a lot of teams--and yet don't have anyone they would replace them with

THE REALITY IS, NO TEAM HAS EARNED IT YET SINCE THE SEASON HASN'T STARTED, AND EVERYONE HAS A NEW TEAM

if you did what i did, which was go by district, region and then the state level, you will realize making the top 35 or so is easy--but then every team you put up there doesn't seem to warrant that high a position

the reality is that with only 180 teams in the new 3A, the overall quality is a little lower, since for the last few years any time i made a top 100 in 3A it has included MORE THAN HALF THE CLASS--that means a bunch of teams that wouldn't be ranked in 2A or 4A from the lower half are now

:p :p

but i wouldn't put it up there if i minded the input--strangely, i've done this every year for 11 years (used to be weekly!), mostly in 2A, and never once have i posted it without curious comment!

hey, at least it gets people discussing football instead of crack problems & itchy nuts (due to allergies of course ;) ) :D

after all it's only YOUR opinion and i gotta say i'm quite impressed since you actually didn't WATCH any of these teams last year and are just going off of last year's seasons & returning starters, etc....

i attended some games in 06', and watched some game vids in '07, and i will attend some games this fall too

plus i have a 150+ games attended, so i've got a feel for it

it helps that i've ranked 3A for six years (and i ranked 2A (with Top 100's each week) for eight years starting in 1998)--so i follow most of the teams at least a little

Some of your top 25 in each region aren't on the top 100. Just so ya know.

Just for grins, here's last years' top 100. Some were spot-on, some not so much. And like p4s said, at least it's football talk. ;)

Wimbo, I know 7 on 7 is not the most accurate indicator of how good you will be for the season. But we played Hondo and they just seemed to be at a total lack of good athletes.
