Will be going there in August on a Friday night as part of a 6-day roadtrip.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay that won't cost an arm and a leg? If we were making a weekend out of it, itd be one thing, but its basically a stop along the way, not a destination.

Thanks!

so you need a place to sleep?...........my philosophy has always been the cheapest room anywhere.........why? cause with your eyes closed and a sleep the rooms all look the same.

Agreed. But if there's a hotel/casino that's cheap or just a bit more than a hotel that someone recommends, then I'm willing to pay to ensure there is no chance of drinking/driving from a casino.

I am an hour down the interstate...but all beds are full here right now. Have a safe trip...and try to avoid all the afternoon storms that are building for the next few days.

When I am at the Port, I never sleep. Also, if you want to make some quick cash, go to the poker rooms. Stay somewhat sober and towards the wee hours of the morn, you will win lots of hands vs. the drunkards that are sleep deprived zombies that all watch too much poker on tv. Sometimes it is easy pickens, and sometimes it aint.

Shreveport was home of Louisiana Hayride in the 60s where lost of singers got their start at old Muncipal Auditorium which is still starting

Even Elvis played there and got a big break

Also George Jones, Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton and others

Out by the airport there is a Courtyard by Marriott that is pretty nice and not far from downtown. Some pretty good places to stay there by the airport on 20.
