all these best, loudest, worst, quietest talk has me remembering a Decatur fan after their regualr season pasting of Wylie in 2004. Stopped at the Braums after the game in Decatur (cause thats what fat people do after a loss). Talking to a super fan all decked out in blue. Told him how good the Eagles looked yada yada yada. He replies, "I think we could easily score 100 points on someone. I was hoping he would leave the starters in to see if they could do it."
I will admit Decatur dominated the game but no one could ever score 100 on Sandifer (well 02 Everman could have if they wanted)and only a idiot would let his team aim for that goal.

When I went to the Hoover Vs. John Curtis game those Hoover fans were SO obnoxious, and all those "jealous?" shirts were iritating.......until John Curtis beat them....then it was funny!! Well it was funny laughing at the 15 Hoover fans that stayed til the end!

That was a great night of football. My husband and I went to Brownwood and watched Sweetwater completely dismantle Glen Rose....then left at halftime and hauled butt to Abilene to catch the last half of the Snyder/Iowa Park game....then we caught the last few minutes of the Abilene Wylie/Decatur game on the radio!!

I had a game this year against Chico in Chico(2A school right outside of Bridgeport) where it was me, my assistant coach, my 12 kids, and 3 parents and then about 100 hillbillies from Chico. It was the most hostile environment I have ever been in for any sport as a player, coach, spectator, anything. In pregame the Chico kids lined up just off the first base line and taunted my kids the whole time we were on the field. The coach sat on his bucket in his dugout smiling. Then, once the game starts this chick with no teeth that is sitting in a lawn chair right by their dugout starts in on my kids. Later in the game there was a little bit of controversy over batters interference where the Chico kid stepped in front of my catcher on an attempted throw to third base. I go and plead my case to the umpires and the chick starts screaming at me that my catcher assaulted that batter and that she was calling the police. WTH??? Anyways, the entire game these people and their kids, both on the team and spectators, talk trash to me and my guys. It was pathetic. I asked the umpire 3 times to fire off some warnings to get the game under control. Finally we finish the game. I hurry through the handshake line and hustle back to where a couple of their mouthiest kids were in the line and I just walked with them to make sure none of my guys took a swing or anything. We make it through that and go to the dugout and start loading our stuff. We have stashed our BIG equipment bag just outside the dugout behind the fence. I go to retreive it because of the hostile environment. It's 2 steps outside the gate. Before I could get back inside the field I get confronted by no teeth and her husband who want to know what I plan to do about my catcher that "Assaulted her baby." I told her nothing, there was no intent it was just part of the play. She flips out. I have to call for the administrator just to get away from the crazy lady. That is my worst experience with a fan from another town/school.

I know those two schools (Decatur and Wylie) have had some great games -- They were happy to beat Wylie especially when Wyle wipped them in the non-district.

Remember that in 2003 Vernon bounced a superior Decatur team in the second round so they had their sights set on a state crown in 2004 with the return of both their QB and WR who were awesome.

I remember an Area Round Basketball game (2004) between Vernon and Graham. The Steers won on a buzzer beater. The fans were terrible -- the worst I have ever seen...maybe because they beat us in football too and they had signs 21-7 that they held up at that basketball game.

Please don't include 'all' of the Steer fans in one group because of a few idiots. We are not all that moronic. I think everyone will agree- every town has that 'special' group that you wish you could BAN from every sporting event. Their IQ is usually equal to or lower than their shoe size.
I myself have a great deal of respect for Vernon and other schools in our past district and wish them nothing but the very best in the future!!!

Had a jv game this year with Prosper.
They beat the JV and stayed on the field and celebrated long after everyone had left. I do understand that it did not happen often but some of the things they said were not about their win but they disrespected the house they were in. In a big way kinda like when T O ran out on the star at texas stadium. The punchline was that a lot of Varsity players were at that game and saw what they did. Next night we rolled them in their house 63 to 12.

I agree wholeheartedly RedWhiteBlue. Graham gets some bad publicity because of some rowdy teenagers. I stopped going to the basketball games for a while because of it. It's not near what it was a few years ago.

He is one of those 'special' fans I am referring to, I am sure. Every town has them. We also have one that recalls EVERY single play and then wants to tell you what was wrong with it and what the coach should called or what the defense should have done differently, because he saw the same thing done when we played Decatur in 1959 and it worked:blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah:

Speaking of little sayings and such. At the state golf tournament this year...... a particular golf team (runner up in 3a) had 'KATN' all over everything. Golf bags, shirts, etc. Golf coach tried to say they were being sponsored by a local radio station with those local call letters. Any of you guys familiar with this?

My senior year in high school our coaches had to literally fight to get our boys back on the bus. I remember Coach Plunkett (who was a big 'ol guy) having to shield our boys as they got on the bus...even had to push one or two back....THEN...the dad of one of my friends..who was about 6'5" and400 lbs saw a very angry fan coming for one of the boys...his wife was yelling "no baby, don't, come back here" Well, 'bout the time she was at "come" Roger turned and waylaid this guy...knocked him out cold. The wife tried to drag the guy away while our boys continued to jump on the bus and haul ###. The police finally got over there and gave everyone an escort out of town. To this day I think one of our city officer cars escorts the bus in and out of town each year.

These lovely fans were in Atoka, OK and the year was 1981.

We had to be escorted in and out of Idabel, OK too....for both basketball and football.

It gets rough in SE OK!!!

That is a fine example for a coach to be setting for a bunch of kids on a high school level. Really someone I would like my child to be playing for. I guess by him lying about it- he knows the wrong in it. And yes I was offended, but not for him- but the kids he has any influence on.
By the way, we all knew at the time he was lying and knew exactly what it stood for- just made him look all that more ignorant.

OK, last season at the Tech vs. OSU game in Stillwater. There was a really drunk OSU fan that kept railing on his own team during the first half. He was a section over and kept yelling all sorts of profanity at Mike Gundy.

I must admit that even as a Tech fan, I was irritated.

He finally fell asleep. Literally.

And ... OSU won.

Which made me smile as I looked over and realized he didn't even know. :)
