Clearwater Florida. Yes, I know that is more than just a state, but Florida, like Texas is a big state with a lot of different areas. Lived there only one year but would go back tomorrow. I also lived in West palm Beach, but it is a bit too "yankee" for my tastes. Clearwater people on the other hand come primarily from the midwest.

I'm thinking Arizona.

Good colleges, professional sports to follow, weather is nice (I'll take warm over cold any day), plus its close to California, Vegas, and Texas (somewhat).

Washington or South Carolina wouldn't be bad either.

I think Florida would be nice, but wouldn't there be a constant worry/thought of hurricanes?

My mother in law lives in Fort Myers, I'd be more worried about that.

Florida has too many retired transplants and tourists.

1. Hawaii (if money were no object)
2. Florida (beach on one side of the house, golf course on the other)
3. Virginia
4. Georgia (Savana area)
5. The Carolinas
6. Alaska (summers only) I hate the cold.

There are lots of very nice areas in all states, with lots to offer, so it's really hard to narrow it down.

No offense, but your two choices intrigue me. Usually if you like warm weather or the beach, you'd say Florida or Hawaii. If you like weather or the mountians, you might say Colorado or Wyoming. I was just suprised by your two choices.

By the way if I couldn't live in Texas, I'd pick Alaska, Colorado, Wyoming or Montana.

Well, I do like warm weather and beaches so Hawaii makes sense. My wife, on the other hand, used to live in Colorado and is always talking about living by the mountains. I'm not much for cold weather, but if push come to shove, I would probably make the move. A lot of the pictures she has look nice so long as there is no snow in them. :D

I lived in Colorado and then Florida. I'll take Florida, thank you. But then, I'm not a winter sports person.

Tigard or Beaverton, OR... they are both right out side of Portland and its BEAUTIFUL! From my aunts house you can see 5 mountains that are in the surrounding area, and its only about an hr and half away from Astoria which has wonderful fishing and its also where they shot the Goonies.

If not there I would move back to Missouri

I lived outside Kansas City and that area is a clone of Ft. Worth and I really liked it there.

I have also lived in Mississippi (just south of Memphis) and I would not want to ever live there again. I lived in a nice small town with a great country club. The high school football was also very good but the working conditions and the work force made it a not so nice place to work.

My wife says I've already moved to the great state of confusion.
Seriously though we are considering Puerto Rico as a part-time residence after retirement since it's in the middle of the sweetest diving on this side of the planet. She's 100% and born there hence the kids that aren't quite as cracker as me.http://tools.digeratimarketing.co.uk/content/lb/smile/characters/character0101.gif (http://www.mysmiley.net)
