This happened yesterday. She was very famous in Hollywood as a dancer and actress. TCM is going to show some of her movies in honor of her on Friday, June 27th. At 7 P.M. it is Singing in the Rain in which she appears as a dancer. Then at 9 P.M. she appears in a starring and dancing role with Fred Astaire and a young Nanette Faberes in The Band Wagon and at 11 P.M. with Fred Astaire and Peter Lorre in Silk Stockings. These movies were made in the 1950s and are good movies and if you aren't familier with her you should see these movies.
She was born in Amarillo, Texas. Thanks for a great career Cyd. We will miss you. :(
