STILLWELL, ROGERS REACH AGREEMENT 2008-06-17
(ROGERS) Speculation that John Stillwell was out as Rogers ISD Head Coach and Athletic Director became reality last night when Stillwell and the Rogers School Board reached an agreement. After several recent closed door sessions, Stillwell submitted his resignation to the board last night.

The resignation was anticipated since Rogers ISD posted openings for Stillwell’s jobs last week. Superintendent Katie Ryan announced the resignation following Monday’s monthly school board meeting.

Ryan said the effective date of Stilwell`s resignation will be at the end of his 2007-2008 contract period which ends Monday, June 30th.

Stillwell’s attorney, Tiger Hanner, said last week that the coach and Rogers ISD were working to come up with a mutual resolution.

According to Ryan, just such an agreement was reached Monday night.

Ryan said “the terms and conditions were agreed upon by John Stillwell and the Rogers ISD board of trustees.”

Stillwell spent five years as Rogers’ defensive coordinator before succeeding Lee Fedora in 2003. He compiled a 42-18 record and guided the Eagles to three playoff appearances that included a Class 2A Division II semifinal berth in 2003 and a spot in the 2A Region IV final in 2004.

Ryan said Rogers ISD is now in the process of accepting applications for a new head football coach and athletic direcgtor. She said it`s the district`s goal to complete the interview and hiring process in the very near future.
