What he said. If I hadn't been there I wouldn't believe it...heck, I'm not sure I still do. ;)

Medina Valley is a class act team & I wish them all the best in Austin. Bring it home!!

Congrats to the Pirates on a great season.

"Jojo" pitched a hell of a game. It's too bad it had to end the way it did. :(

Tough way to lose a series and end a season, but as Yogi Berra once said, "It ain't over till its over". Pirates had a great year though and have nothing to hang their heads over. The kids will probably beat themselves up over the way they lost the game, but don't forget that MV has a really good team too.

I knew MV was going after the performance they put on against us in game one of our series. It was an amazing game. Our pitcher threw well, not even our ace as our coach went for some strategy. They pitched their ace, and it was very very close. Lots of ups and downs, they pulled it off in the end. It was a very clutch game and some big plays by many kids, and I knew then they would take Region 4. We were playing great and still couldnt beat them, which is the first time I had seen that for our team. We hadnt lost when we played great, and we did to them. Good luck panthers.

Losing four starting seniors is a lot. A rebuilding year next year for Sinton plus they will be in a very tough district with Robstown, Falfurrias and Mathis and other potentially good teams.

I congratulate the Panthers, and I don't mean to take anything away from them, but they had some timely help in this one. Most teams won't survive giving up five errors in two innings, especially at this level. MV is a good ballclub, no doubt about it, but most of us are dumbfounded by how this one ended. Very uncharacteristic of the Pirates. HS Baseball can be a strange game.

I have no doubt that MV will represent R4 well. In fact, I expect them to win it all. They will go in as the #1 seed and will most likely face Texarkana Pleasant Grove in the semifinals. Best of luck to the Panthers, bring that title back to R4.

if you cant spot your fastball against this team its going to get hit hard. Alaniz did a great job of showing how to stop that offense. Has Joseph Alaniz been given any offers to play college ball or looked at by pro scouts? Both games i had couple of unkown people ask me which one was Alaniz and started writing things down.

Very tough way to lose. I'm sure there were 100 little things that went one way that could and would have given the game to Sinton. Just goes to show that doing all the right things all the time (and focusing on doing so) makes all the difference.

Good luck MV in state... enjoy your final week in 3A... Reg IV 4A is going to be TOUGH!!!

It was tough when they were there before. We (when I was there) were 28-4 and lost to Calallen in regionals. Pretty sure we did ok then and I'm sure they'll do well again.

MV has been 4A for 8 of the last 12 years.

MV coach after the game:

"I wish I could wax eloquent right now, but it may dawn on me on the bus trip home. Right now, I'm a little numb to be honest with you," Keller said. "I'm just so proud I could cry. I'm getting old. I may not have too many more chances. Next year we move up to 4A with Moody and Calallen. It's been 11 years since we've been there so we're going to enjoy it."

The 11 years refers to the last time they were in the state tournament. Believe me, MV has competed well in 4A in baseball. Losing to Calallen and Boerne deep in the playoffs is not something that means you're not competing. The year Cal beat us in Regionals, we lost twice to Boerne and twice to Calallen. #1 and #2 in state that year. That was our only 2 losses on the season.

Look up the records of how well they've fared.

Granted, it will be brutally tough having Cal and Moody but MV can compete well with them.

How could we have overlooked Cody? He also was a good basketball player and defensive back on the football team. He saved several touchdowns for us on defense last year.
