WHITEWRIGHT, Tex. -- Authorities in Whitewright have arrested a teacher for soliciting a minor on the Internet. Grayson County authorities arrested 44-year-old Michael Call of Trenton after a three-month investigation with police in southeast Houston. Whitewright school officials want to make sure everyone knows that all the children are safe and that situation is being looked into. Daniel Gotera has more.

Grayson County authorities say they see it all the time across the nation, but this time it’s hitting home. A teacher from Whitewright has been arrested for online solicitation while teaching students at Whitewright Middle School.

Grayson County authorities received a call on Wednesday from the Santa Fe (Texas) Police Department regarding a man they say had been presumably participating in online chats with a 14-year-old girl. That man, 44-year old Michael Call, had been involved in the chats since February of this year. Throughout that time, Call had installed a web camera on his computer and had conducted online of what authorities are calling a "sexual nature".

Call had been a teacher at the school for 8 years and was taken into custody Thursday while in the middle of class. He has since been placed on administrative leave and is charged with online solicitation of a minor.

The school district and authorities want to stress that no Whitewright students have been or are tied to Mr. Call, but if you do have any information on the case you are asked to contact your local authorities.
