OF Jay Bruce (Beaumont West Brook, 2005 1st rounder), rated the top prospect in the minors by Baseball America, had a huge 1st game for the Reds last night.

3-3 on night, 2 RBIs in win

Bruce played in Houston Heat organization when my nephew 1st joined them. I got to watch him some & he was a beast. Check out some of the names from that team (Silver) who won the World Wood Bat Association Title over teams from USA, Canada, & Latin America as well as other big tourneys:

Jay Bruce (1st round pick by Reds)
Homer Bailey (1st round pick by Reds)
Joe Savery (Rice, 1st round pick by Phillies)
Kyle Drabek (1st round pick by Phillies, currently coming back from TJ surgery)
Kevin Ahrens (1st round pick Blue Jays)
Aaron Miller (Baylor)
Sean Morgan (Tulane, pro ball)
Koby Clemens (Astros 8th rounder)
Diego Seastrunk (Rice)
Jordan Dodson (Rice)
Danny Lehmann (Rice, pro ball)
Kenn Kasparek (Texas)
Kyle Russell (Texas)
Kyle Walker (Texas)
Raynor Campbell (Baylor)
& many others

...team was loaded to say the least. And that is just one team in organization. Lots of D1 kids & even draft picks were on other teams.

Good luck Jay & great start.

Pretty much, but there are so many good teams in that Premier Select League that it is sick. The Heat Silver team was the best though at that time, thus they won the "National Title" for select ball. Still very good now too. Just look at that pitching rotation & hitting...wow!

Kyle Chapman (Houston)
South Texas Sliders
Dallas Mustangs
D-Bat
Austin Slam
Austin Baseball Club
Columbia Angels (Houston Area)
etc.

...all are very good & full of D1 & future pro kids.

Scouts will tell you that the Greater Houston Area & Southern California have the most talent of anywhere in the country (Florida included). Obviously Texas as a whole has a bunch too. Warm weather in these states, good coaching & professional instruction, & playing year around are the main reasons.

I played 4 years at Austin Baseball Club:clap:

The only time we played the Houston Heat, we played them at UTSA and beat them:D

Hey g$$, do you know Sid Holland from Houston. He works and owns ProWay hitting academy off Hwy 529.
