Most likely 1965 or 1966. That would have been in the "old tin box" stadium in Cuero. The current stadium was built in 1967 or 68 (I think)

I ain't sure.......sometime in the early to mid '60s when I was too young to remember. I actually don't remember any games until around '70 or so, but I know I went to some Buckeye games at an early age. Come to think of it, they were playing in what is 4A now, against teams such as Sulphur Springs, Mt.Pleasant, and Pine Tree. So, I guess the first 3A game by today's numbers I remember watching was in 1980, when they added a classification and Gilmer stayed 3A, the year after I graduated.

Sometime in the early 80's when i would go with my mom to see my older sister march in the Pirate band, mainly the home games out of town games we would go pick her up around 11 or 12 depending the buses would arrive at the school everyone at the band hall knew me and would tell me your sister is in there getting her stuff. :) great memories. But at that time Sinton was in 4A ever since then i've been following the Pirates

1968...... was born in march and dad took me to almost every game daingerfield played that year in 2A, now 3A. Including the State Game in a driving rain storm. We watched from under the bleachers.

Cant say for sure, but I'd guess around 65 or 66.
The first game I can remember seeing was Class B Roby vs. Jayton in 66 I think. Seems like Jayton won in a close game.

Well I don't know which game you "watched" in 1963 when you were only four years old, but I can guarantee you that Jasper lost the game. ;)

My first 3A...probably in the early to mid 80's. Started out as a tyke watching 2A.......for the longest until we moved. We then went to most of the GOBBLER games. And especially all those heart pounding playoff games the GOBBLERS were in back in those days! (and they haven't stopped yet!) Yeah!

Watched 2A all through high school and didn't go to another football game until 1995 when I met my husband!

1999...

Marlin played Robinson at Baylor Stadium in the 3A quarterfinals. Robinson won in overtime...great game, even though I was for Marlin.

Did anyone else here see the game?

More than you would think.

Granted, Calallen wasn't the powerhouse they are now. But they put together some good seasons in the Mid-70's. The reason no one remembers is because only one team went to the playoffs(G-P) and the rest stayed home.

1974.......6-4 (Teddy Gray)
1975.......8-1-1(Gray)
1976.......7-3(Bobby Davis, Alice coach Brent Davis' dad)
1977.......6-2-2(Davis)

That's 27-10-3 over a 4 year span. Not too shabby:)
