Does anybody have any contact with any of the four coaches? We would like to webcast the Austin rounds, but according to UIL rules, we must get designated as one team's "official" broadcaster. We need some help here making contact.

From what I read on another board, the run scored on an throwing error at 3rd. Thomas struck out 16 on a one-hitter.

Huntington to face Texarkana Liberty-Eylau in state championship Saturday

The Associated Press

Friday, May 30, 2008

AUSTIN — Lacey Middlebrooks pitched a one-hit complete game as Texarkana Liberty-Eylau upset defending Class 3A champion Medina Valley, 2-1, in a UIL softball semifinal on Friday.

Middlebrooks struck out 10 and shortstop Ashlee Johnson scored both runs as the Leopards (24-3-1) advance to the finals against Huntington, a 2-1 winner Thursday night over Burkburnett. The state championship game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Johnson reached first on a fielder's choice, then stole second and was bunted to third by Heather Reynolds. Kaylee Treas stroked a single up the middle to bring home Johnson and stake the Leopards to a 1-0 lead.

Medina Valley (34-8) knotted the score in the top of the fourth inning when Mysia Proctor reached on an error, was bunted to second by Crystal Keller, then moved to third and scored on consecutive wild pitches tying the score at 1-1.

Liberty-Eylau staged a two-out rally in the bottom of the fifth when Johnson walked and advanced to third on a single by Reynolds. Treas grounded to short to drive home Johnson with her second run of the game giving the Leopards a 2-1 lead.

The Leopards are in the state final four for the first time ever. Medina Valley was making their final Class 3A appearance as the Panthers move up to Class 4A this fall.

Huntington (29-3-1) reached the final game with the help of pitcher Carlie Thomas, who recorded 16 strikeouts while allowing only one hit on Thursday night.
