I was really wanting there to be a good match up within the
2-3A district the week of Sweetwater's bye. Wylie, Snyder, and
Breckenridge also have byes that week. Brownwood is playing
Manor and Graham is playing Bridgeport.:(

Week 0 - game 1 of the East Texas Classic @ Trinity Mother Francis / Rose Stadium in Tyler, Thursday, August 28

Gilmer Buckeyes vs. Jasper Bulldogs

This is a rematch of the 2004 3A Division II State Championship which Gilmer won 49-47. This oughta be a good 'un!

Graham vs. Bridgeport might be a decent game. But I wouldnt drive that far for what might be a marginally interesting game.:D

Who do we play the week that Wylie and Brownwood mix it up? That's a game I'd like to see. It'll be the first time those two have ever played one another that game actually means something. That may have to be a game I go see, no matter who we play. Unless it's Snyder of course.:D Cant miss that blood fest for anything.

My point was that I am just looking forward to the first game of the year.

To answer your question with a "quality game" I would have to say week 2------ Wylie vs. Liberty Hill

That is why it is parenthetical documentation. I take it you were there and you posted on this site many times when the tides were back and forth this past season about Giddings wanting to play LH for revenge. That would give you an indication that a new "rivalry" was in place.

Well, if you were there you should know. Anyone that was there knows how the two offenses differed from one point to the next. Whether you think the coaching changed or what have you, the offense was better afterwards. I don't have all of the stats and so forth to convince you, but I am most certain if you did your homework you would find truth in the statement. And I'm quite sure LH didn't tone down their D just because Brock was out.

I'm not sure there were more than one if any giddings poster that actually wanted LH for revenge, so posters from other towns might have mentioned it to hype it up...

Dominique Bailey, to be a junior this year. Catch him if you can. Moye had no moves at all compared to Bailey. Bailey will run 120 yards to get a 60 yard TD. ;)

Moye was more brute strength and speed. He would run over a LB if he had to. Bailey is quickness and finess.

Even though Bailey will be a junior, I am hereing this will be his last year of eligibility because of age.

He is a quick one, but man he is small, couldn't weigh more than 155 pounds and only about '5"7.

I think Bwood will have a lot of success, and will go deep in the playoffs. But I've seen your schedule, and it may be the most brutal schedule I have ever seen. I'd bet anything that yall will not go 10-0. At that point I will guess maybe 8-2, and I cant even say who the 2 losses will be to. But that is just way too tough of a schedule to go 10-0 on. But if by some long shot it does happen, I'll have little doubt that Bwood will win a state title. It ought to be fun to watch.

On the other hand, Jasper will be slower and smaller everywhere else. :(

I don't know if Darian "Stump" Godfrey is as quick and fast as Manuel Johnson was, but he is much bigger and stronger. The only real question mark I have about the '08 Buckeyes is they lost their entire offensive line and their running back. I think this year's team will have much more speed and quickness on the offensive line, and in the backfield. The backup RB from last year, Jeremy Jackson, will likely carry the ball the majority of the time this year. He is VERY fast! The offensive line will be a tad bit smaller, but quicker. It'll be interesting to see how well they can protect Stump and open up holes for the running game. I hope they can gel pretty quick because they are gonna have a much tougher schedule this year.

Other than Port Isabel v. Edcouch Elsa in Week 2 and PI vs. RH in Week 5, there's actually a SCRIMMAGE, yes a SCRIMMAGE I'm looking forward to seeing.

Port Isabel v. Harlingen (32-5A)

The two most storied programs in the Rio Grande Valley going at it for the first time ever! Too bad it's only a scrimmage and not an actual game.

P.S. I think Ingleside plays Rio Hondo early. Not sure what Ingleside has this year though. We'll see.

Your location says you live in Graham, which is playing Iowa Park the week LH plays Brownwood. I was asking if you're going to make the haul to LH or go the closer route to IP to watch the Steers.

Oh, I knew what you meant. I was showing you that I'm not sure which game to attend. I live in Graham, but I bleed Brownwood maroon.

Basically I just can't wait for football to start. Yes I live in Caldwell, yes we have no respect, yes we lost 25 seniors and yes I know that many think last year was a fluke...but I can't wait to see what the new season brings. :hand:

Gilmer will Play Kilgore I think week 4, these are two teams that have both won state championships within the past few years. Should be an excellent 3a vs 4a game

I want to see Navasota and Madisonville.

This will be a slugfest and a grind it out game. I can't wait to see these 2 outstanding backs lead their teams.
