6 years/$72M($34.75M guaranteed)

IMO they over payed him but given the situation Blanke is in it was probably worth it to him. He's paid more than Tom Brady, Tony Romo, and Donovan McNabb. He's also worth more than a majority of the players in the league and he is unproven. Rookie salary caps?

There is no reason for that... IMO he is going to be the biggest bust not b/c of his draft pick but b/c of his contract... He isnt worth that much and will prolly be as good as Matt Lienart which aint saying much! Lienart should be the franchise qb and shouldnt be sharing time with Warner!

They should. It's done a lot of good in the NBA, in my opinion. It prevents holdouts and makes the young guys work harder in their first years so they can earn the big contract at the end.

However, as a counterpoint, football is a much more dangerous sport, with injuries causing significantly more retirements. Plus, a player can be cut at any time which is why you always see the $xxx guarantee clause in NFL.

It shouldn't be exactly like the NBA, but there should be some sort of limit with a clause protecting from injuries. Kevin Mawae, who has a significant role in the NFLPA, mentioned on the Herd this morning that both players and owners want to arrange something along these lines, and it will probably happen with the next CBA.
