I know there are a lot of Sinton followers on the site. Just an FYI that I'll be working on extending the history back quite a bit further now that I've managed to get the vast majority of the past 30 seasons completed.

(13 missing scores)

I pushed the history back to 1966, which was the year Sinton moved up from 2A to 3A. They remained in the 2nd largest classification for 18 seasons (1966-1983) before moving back down.

They went 85-92-5 during those 18 seasons, which is quite respectable given that they were competing as one of the smallest schools in an extremely tough district, going up against the likes of Gregory-Portland, Cuero, Calallen and Refugio, all 4 of which are among the 20 winningest programs in the state over the past 40 years:

Most Wins Among 1000+ Programs Statewide in All Classifications (1968-2007)
1. 403 - Celina
2. 400 - Refugio
3. 389 - Odessa Permian
4. 374 - Plano
5. 374 - Cuero
6. 374 - Southlake Carroll
7. 363 - Highland Park
8. 362 - Converse Judson
9. 361 - Childress
10. 361 - Gregory-Portland
11. 359 - Houston Yates
12. 356 - Groveton
13. 353 - La Marque
14. 348 - Newton
15. 346 - Dallas Carter
16. 344 - Corpus Christi Calallen

I've gotten through more than half of the total games (463 out of 892) in the known history and will add more over the coming weekend.

I was able to tack on a few more seasons back to 1962. The history now covers over 500 games, 46 seasons, 21 of Sinton's 29 playoff appearances, and 10 of their 11 all-time Quarterfinal appearances.

Sinton had quite the run in the early 1960's winning 5 district titles in 6 years, having a run of 31 consecutive regular season games without a loss from 1961-1964, and putting up a record of 56-10-6 between 1959 and 1964 (82% winning percentage).

I added back to 1956 just now, with some difficulty, as I am still missing the scores from the Ingleside and Sundeen games in 1958, but I know they were both wins.

I also am 99% sure that Sinton should have an extra win tacked on to their all-time win-loss record as I believe there is an error in the generally accepted win-loss record for the 1957 season. Most references listing the records for Sinton over the years have them going 1-8-1 that year, but I've found close to a dozen different references from original 1957 sources, listing their record as 2-7-1 with a definite win over Rockport, and a 2nd win over Weslaco. I haven't been able to find a first hand account of the Weslaco game to verify it definitively but the score reported across the state the day after the game was 18-13 in Sinton's favor, and all of the Final Standings that were published at the end of the season show Sinton as finishing 2-7-1.

The reason this is important, is that Sinton is very close to reaching win #500, and they potentially could hit it this coming season. I have them now with 492 wins, but the standard reference currently (over at DCTF has them at 491 with the difference being the 1957 season).

Anyway, 1956 was the first year Sinton advanced as far as the State Quarterfinals. An achievement they now have equalled 11 times. It was also their first Region Championship. They have since won three additional Region Titles in 1962, 1990 and 2001.

In 1956 Sinton had a bye round in the bi-district round of the playoffs due to there not being any teams assigned to district 30-2A (which would have been their bidistrict opponent). Thus, their first playoff game was actually a regional game.

Yep, that was under Murray Stevenson. Believe it or not, back then Sinton ran a STRAIGHT T and a Power I.

I will be stopping here for the evening.

You now have the complete Sinton record in the modern era back to 1950, covering 58 seasons, over 630 games, and 26 of their 29 all-time playoff appearances.

The missing score count is still only 15, with 13 of those coming from the 1980's....

I'll see what I can find pre-1950 later tomorrow...

I'm pretty sure it was the Morning Valley Star down in the RGV....

I've tacked on another 4 wins and 1 loss to the all-time record as the currently accepted record for 1943 of 2 wins and 2 losses apparently was incomplete, or not reported accurately. I've confirmed that Sinton went AT LEAST 6-3-0 in 1943 and may very well have won a 7th game. I haven't been able to verify if they actually played the game with Kenedy that's listed on the schedule below as "tentative" so I have not included that scheduled game in the history.

This now leaves Sinton with 496 known all-time wins... just 4 away from 500.

28 out of 29 all-time playoff appearances are covered in the 67 seasons now posted.

Sinton advanced to the 1942 playoffs after winning a coin flip which broke a three-way tie with Aransas Pass and Benavides

In 1941 Sinton only had 19 points scored against them in 10 games, notching 7 shutouts during the season. Unfortunately, a 0-6 loss to Aransas Pass kept them from the district title.

According to this, Sinton and Taft met for the 19th time on Armistice Day (Nov. 11) 1937 which means that they have been playing since at least 1919

76 seasons now covered, and all 29 of their 29 playoff appearances.

I've also added on another 2 wins which brings the total of known wins up to 498.

The link below is to a pretty interesting article on the History of Sinton that was published in a special edition paper in Corpus back in 1934. I'm not sure what the special occasion was.

The following are from the 1932 season which was Sinton's first playoff appearance ever

In 1931 Sinton actually had ended up in a 3-way tie with Aransas Pass and Beeville for the district title (all with 2-1-0 records) and Sinton had won the tiebreaker and should have advanced to the playoffs but they were disqualified after it came out that they had used an ineligible player.

Aransas Pass became the new district champion and went on to the playoffs that year instead.

Okay, this is probably where I'll stop for now. I've pushed the history back to 1924 which is 84 seasons, and 870 total games with 54 missing scores (meaning I've found the results to 94% of the games).

I've got the info on a little less than half of those first 31 known games prior to 1924 and will add them to the graphic when I'm a little closer to completion. For those interested here are the games I am aware of prior to 1924.

1914
Beeville 0-26
Beeville 6-18

1915
Corpus Christi Miller 10-0
San Antonio Jefferson 0-28

1919
Bishop 24-6
Beeville 20-0
Bishop 13-13

1920
Taft 26-0

1922
Mathis 6-12
Sodville 0-13

1923
Beeville 0-27
Robstown 0-31

Here are the earliest games that I have clippings of... both from 1915.
