I'm sure there are some better ones out there, but the only one I know of right now (being this early in the season and not seeing as many teams play yet) is Cuero's Justin Robinson...

Last I heard Colorado was knockin' on his door...

Who else do we have?

Burnet has a good one in Ty Kuhn. He is a bit small for a linebacker at the Div. 1 level, but with his speed (4.4) he should make a great Div. 1 saftey.

i hear that bh lb #35 has 4.2 speed with a 400 bench press. for the the season he already has 50 solo tackles. with 12 sacks the kid is a house. the monster weighs about 160. watch out!!

I second Ty Kuhn. The guy is fun to watch. He flys to the ball and makes big hits when he gets there.

I don't know if he is the best, but he sure is a heck of a great linebacker. Frankie Herrera, Junior from Port Isabel Tarpons. Recored 15 tackles in the Tarpons loss to LaVernia.

Frankie is 5'11, and runs a 4.5 in the forty, I think he is 180lbs.

The best ILB in 3a football is without a doubt Joe Cooper for the Rice Raiders. 5'10" 220lbs and runs a 4.7 40.

Daniel Dodd and Casey Driggers are our two studs at linebacker. Dodd was newcomer of the year in District 11-3A as a sophomore last season. Driggers literally nearly killed two players on opposing teams in back-to-back district games last fall. Both had to be carted off in ambulances. Fortunately, both lived without permanent paralysis. These were clean hits, too. He's just a bonebreaker out there.

I would hate to have to choose which one is better. Certainly there are few better in East Texas 3A. I don't know enough about the subject to say how they stack up statewide.

195, 4.4 forty. All-State and the fastest Linebacker in Texas.

The Football Bible independently says the best in 3A are Trey Bennett of Newton, Randy Dowden of Queen City, Rodney Fuller of Bullard, Harold Runnels of Bellville and our Ryan Bradford. Ryan, according to Campbell's (don't gripe at me, lol) is 6.3, 205 and runs a 4.4.

I've heard reports on all except the Dowden and Fuller guys, has anyone seen these two play yet?

Although if he could get in a 3-4 system in college, I think he fits the mold of a 3/4 OLB. Probably has the talent to play at the next level, but will be interesting to see where and what position he'll end up.

Which is why I went by the top 300, some coaches don't put their athletes in contention for all State honors, one springs to mind. The top 300 is chosen by Campbell, an independent. All State honors are chosen by individuals very involved in the process, not independent from it all. Those three are great athletes, for sure. My hats are off to them, for sure. I was stating what I did because I had not heard of the two I mentioned.

Hey thanks for the info. Where is your top 300? I would like to look at it.

LOL, it's not MY top 300, espn, it's the Campbell top 300, on page 40 of the same bible you referred to. It's the top 300 athletes according to Campbell in the state, irregardless of classification, so those are what he considers the best high school athletes in the entire state, not just compared to other 3A schools. Happy reading.

Sorry didn't mean to make you think I was looking for your poll. If that was the case I might try to Start my own. I meant who was the source of the list you were looking at. I thought it coud possibly be Rivals. I canceled my subscription to them. Thanks for the info. Let me know when you come up with your own Top 300.

Thanks Espn, but people on here don't believe me on 40 times I read off the wall, I don't fool myself into thinking they would believe my top 300. LOL I'm just gonna keep workin on making our concession stand menu better and leave the judging to others.

I know this, we are proud to be one of only six 3A teams with two players each in Campbell's 300. And neither of them is the most sought after on our team. Just amazing a small town (population 500) like this can put out so many athletes over the years.

Not only one of the best, but by far the most intelligent!
Scott Andrews - Graham (6-2,215,4.7)
SAT Score 1510 (as recorded by the Ft. Worth Star Telegram)
Last two games total of 37 tackles. 23 against Sweetwater and 14 against Alvarado.

Just got out my recently acquired Burnet media guide. Lists LB Rountree stats for 02 at 155 tackles, 90 solo, 10 for loss, caused two fumbles, recovered three, 6 blocked passes, five sacks and three interceptions. I remember one in Bandera game, Burnet up 20-14 right after half, turned game around, one in Sommerset game(playoff)
and one in finals in endzone. I have only watched the gatesville and shoemaker game this year and he had 15 against gatesville (La Shon Thayer-what a hoss), and I think the first three against shoemaker and a sack for about 25 yards.
Kid is a real runstopper. Burnet is lucky to have two fine linebackers. I understand the stats for Ty Kuhn include his JV stats in my guide. Anyone know his stats for 02? I dont think I would like to be an off coordinator trying to game plan these two

Espn-1 Looking at my recently acquired media guide I see stats for Rountree from Burnet-3 year starter-02 stats-155 tackles 90 solo,, 10 for loss, caused two fumbles , recovered three, 6 blocked passes, five sacks and three interceptions. I remember one interception in Bandera game, Burnet up 20-14, start of second half with Bandera driving. Sommerset interception turned game around and 1 in finals in end zone. Run stopper, had 15 tackles against gatesville this year(La Shon Thayer-what a hoss), first three in Shoemaker game and a 20+yard sack. Looks like Burnet has two good linebackers. Glad I am not the offensive coordinator trying to beat them. Anyone have Ty Kuhn's 02 stats, my media guide includes JV stats.

Burnet prolly has the best 2 linebackers in the state right know the 2 of them have to be leading the cent-tex in tackels just bc they always seem to be on them and with Burnets play they only get to play half of the game so that is very outstanding for those 2 boys how have achived so much and dont even get to play the whole game!

Thats a good point-I know rountree got maybe 1 defensive series in the second half of shoemaker game and Kuhn got only 3 or 4. Wonder what their numbers would be if they played most of the games? Is the Sadler kid from Marlin healthy and doing well? Marlin has had its share of injuries, but I think they will recover. Maybe this also shows that too hard a schedule can have its detrimental side.

I just cant say enough about those 2 boys from Burnet i watched them play MC tonight and the Roundtree boy had an int. and some very good tackels while the Kuhn boy had a few tackels and a nice batted down pass and even a recovery on the kick off. Every time i watch these 2 boys i get chills down my spine. I dont care who you are both of those boys are getting my votes for all state and i will argue with anyone over the talent level of those 2 boys.
