Former La Grange pitcher Mandi Bertsch got the start for La Tech in an elimination game in the College Station regional in softball today as the Lady Techsters eliminated Auburn 2-1.

Mandi (9-8) started and pitched the first four innings and only gave up 2 hits to the Tigers of Auburn. Coach Dawson elected to put in another pitcher in the 5th to finish the game as La Tech will return to the regional championship game against Texas A&M on Sunday at 12:00.

Congrats to Mandi and her family as she represented La Grange in a very very positive way!!

I just got to work with her one year and she was a great kid and player. Her family is also great -- she lost her father a year ago and he was a great supporter of softball in La Grange. Most of credit in her high school career goes to Coach Vinklarek for working with her for her first 3 years in high school.
