It is my opinion ( i know not worth squat but I am post padding) that Varsity Blues is the Stupiest football movie ever. My 7yr old son insists on watching it however so I am trying to drown it out with loud music.

Those two are both good movies. The Replacements is a horrible football movie.

I've never really considered The Replacements as a sports movie (more comedic to me). Maybe that's why I kinda like it.

Varsity Blues is even stupider than the one with Kathy Ireland as a place kicker????

Varsity Blues is a good movie, however is also very stupid. I HATE the way the portray people in Texas.

Any Given Sunday is stupid.

The Replacements is alright, good story and pretty funny too.

The two Longest Yard movies were good.

Also the 1938 movie Hold that Co-ed is a great and funny football movie. John Barrymore (Drew's grandfather) plays a humorous shady politician (based on Louisiana's governor and senator Huey Long in a spoof). John was considered by many to be the best actor of his generation but unfortunately his prime was before movie sound came into being. He is great in this one though and this movie is shown regularly on the Fox Movie Channel and TCM.

Your talking about Necessary Roughness which was filmed @ North Texas State. I thought Any Given Sunday was the worst. I saw it at the movie theater and I FELL ASLEEP!!!

I think so. At least there were plenty of comedic moments in Necessary Roughness.

The movie with the female kicker was just slightly worse than the movie with a donkey for a kicker. Come to think of it, there really is not that much of a difference. They both stunk! :D

Varsity Blues really missed out on being a good movie...with all the stupid bs. they put in it....................the all time worst football movie is one that came out in probably the late 80's or early 90's starring Anthony Micheal Hall called Johnny Be Good......filmed in San Marcos....Alamo Hts football stadium and I think the University was Rice............that was awful....and spent money to see it at the movies.
