Well, I went to the game last night and both teams packed the stands. I was impressed by the turnout.:clap:
The first two innings, Columbia netted a grand total of one base runner (infield single).
The Devilettes left a few on base.
I think it was the third inning, and then the devilettes got the raw end of a deal. They had girls on first and third with one out (due to a Columbia error). The girl batting bunted it back to Cami Newsome(Pitcher). Well, Cami threw it home and Avirett(Catcher) applied the tag but dropped the ball. The runner was called out at home. Tough luck there. The other 2 runners would be stranded.
Well, the game went on, and in the 6th inning Columbia's CF made a diving catch to save what would have been atleast a double.(There was a runner on first, so saved a likely run.
* Probably the best catch I have ever seen in a softball game)
The runner was stranded once again.
In the 7th, Columbia went three up, three down.
Newsome walked the leadoff batter.
The next girl popped out on a bunt attempt.
The runner then attempted to steal 2nd.
Avirett had her thrown out by a mile but the 2nd baseman dropped the ball.:doh:
The runner then advanced to 3rd on a ground ball out.
Bot 7, 2 out, runner on 3rd. 0-0 game
The naxt batter swings and chops one back to Newsome. She throws the ball Home instead of first and Avirett wasn't there and the ball went to the backstop and the runner scored.
1-0 Final
A sad way to lose, But Congrats on a Great Season Lady Necks.

*From my POV, it looked as though Columbia was outmatched the entire game.
They constantly had runners on base and they hit the ball hard.
Good luck next week Needville! Way to represent D-24.
