Doctors are closely monitoring the condition of a Jasper High School cheerleader who was injured on Wednesday during a practice session at the school.

The accident occurred shortly after 5:00 as 15-year-old Katrina Ensign and others practiced routines in the gymnasium. Ensign was taken by her parents to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. Ensign was later flown to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston where she was at last word still undergoing treatment in the facility’s intensive care unit.

Ensign, who is a sophomore, currently performs at the junior varsity games. However, she has already been selected into the school’s varsity program for the 2008-2009 school year.
