Lewisville ISD rivalry games booked for Cowboys' new home

Both The Battle for the Ax (Flower Mound Marcus vs. Lewisville) and The Mound Showdown (Flower Mound vs. Flower Mound Marcus) will be played at the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium in Arlington in 2009.

The Lewisville-Marcus game will be Oct. 9, 2009 and the Marcus-Flower Mound game will be Oct. 30, 2009.

The games have tradtionally been played at Texas Stadium, but there was no guarantee the two series would move to Arlington until now.

"With the [Cowboys] moving to Arlington, we didn't know what the arrangements would be," Marcus coach Bryan Erwin said. "It's a little more travel for us. We didn't know what the financial arrangements would be.

"Obviously it's going to be a little cheaper than season tickets."

Props to Paul LeBon's Marcus Football Blog for spreading the news.

My Dad was the HC at Lewisville back in the 50's when Lewisville was 1A-2A. Now there are what, 5-6 high schools in LISD? Big John has come a long way!

This is great news as it almost confirms that the saturday triple headers will still be on.

Then again, it will probably be $20 to get in now

If you check the link it has been updated and the Cowboys are making it known that no contracts have been signed. The Jones' have said from the beginning that high school football would carry on at the new stadium, but we'll have to wait and see.

Didn't Lewisville go a couple of rounds deep last year?
