A very sad story indeed. But I would do the same for mine without hesitation, and i believe most of the fathers that I know would do the same. In fact I cant imagine a father that would not be willing to lay down his life for his family. Thank God most of us dont have to find out.

Maybe this will get DD in the news a little more. Unfortunately it will take someone famous getting killed before anything is changed.

Someone famous get's arrested for DWI on a weekly basis. It's
all over the media. Nothing's changed.

No, Lindsey Lohan and Brittney spears get arrested and it's on E!

I was talking about someone notable who has actually done something famous other then get DWIs

It was all over the media though...probably more for his
anti-sematic rant then anything..but still.

I'm not arguing your point. I'm just stating the obvious. When
it takes getting caught four or five times before a person faces any
serious criminal charges...who's scared of the legal consequences?

If a person knew they were looking at 5 years in the TDCJ for
a first offense I bet DWI cases would be cut in half.

exactly. Not to take away from the man's unselfish act, but that's just part of the deal with fatherhood.

That's what I am going for.

You are punished more for downloading music then killing someone.

In Texas our system is doing pretty well... In the nation, DWI-related deaths are going up... in Texas they are going down... and that's not just percentage-wise, that's the number PERIOD (even with a larger population year-to-year)...

your first one sux enough (license suspended, fines, probabtion, $3,000.00 surcharge on getting your license back unless you blow over .16, which raises it to $6,000.00 surcharge, SR22 raising your insurance)... the second one is higher (max fine, max probation, max surcharge on getting your license back etc...) and the third is a felony... your first is a felony if a child under 16 is in the car (unless that has changed as well)...

most states are slaps on the wrists... jokes really...

when you're drunk, you do stupid things, and driving happens to be one of them... think ahead, plan for it...
