Heck of a ballgame. Megan Gibson & Meagan Denny both pitched well & both gave up solo HRs. Jamie Hinshaw (3-3 for game) had a big day for A&M w/ a solo HR & scored both runs, including the eventual winning run in the bottom of 6th (sac fly by Macie Morrow). Hinshaw singled & was being sac bunted over when defensive interference allowed both to be safe w/ no outs (Hinshaw & 2B for Texas collided in basepath, automatic call as no play being made by that 2B on sac bunt between 1B & pitcher). So then w/ runners on 1st & 2nd, A&M laid down sac bunt to advance them. Instead of walking Morrow w/ base open & 1 out to set up DP & force at any base, Texas pitched to Morrow who drove in winning run. I would have loaded the bases for best chance to get out of it, force at any base, double play, etc.

Both teams had some chances. Texas had 3 huge baserunning rocks. Early in game - runner on 2nd, no outs, K then throw down gets Texas girl in run-down, tagged out for DP. Another girl got doubled off 1st on a foul infield pop-out to 3B Hinshaw, who fired across for DP. Final one was in 7th w/ 1 out, girl who singled left early from base & was called out. Final batter (Gaskin from A&M Consol, who hit the HR earlier for Texas) Ked for final out. I thought the HP ump had a wide strike zone for both teams, calling balls way off plate strikes. That's what happens when you set-up over far inside shoulder of catcher & you are guessing on outside pitch. Taught nowadays to get more centered (or slightly off-center in a "box") over catcher to be able to see entire zone, baseball & softball. Poor job IMO by that guy.

Overflow crowd, ESPNU national tv audience, beautiful weather & now outright Big 12 Champs. Wharton's Jami Lobpries had a great catch in 1st inning against CF wall to save a potential extra base hit, & she reached base twice as well. Caldwell's Kelsey Spittler made a nice sliding catch in LF too for A&M. Picked up .5 pt. in LSS, so now 8.5 to 7.5 in favor of A&M. 3 points left w/ track & baseball remaining.

Obstruction, not interference. I always confuse the 2 terms, but right call was made. Volume down on the tv too in sports bar. Fielder was not making a play on ball & clearly obstructed runner from reaching 2nd base. It was correct call by rule.
