Will be some great relays, reg.4 always comes in with slower times than others due to the wind so bad down in kingsville. It will be good to watch.

wish Cuero wouldn't have "scratched" the Mile Relay at regional - with a previous district meet time of 3:28 - If they ran a good race - they could be going to state in the Mile relay as well (I am sure coach made what he felt was the right decision, I am not 2nd guessing by any means) - but I also don't think 3:28 will be anywhere near close enough to place - but it would have given the very young team some great experience. couple of Freshman on the mile relay
I might be wrong, but Hargrove is the only senior on the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays - Green is a Freshman (11.5 100M) and Glover and B Johnson are Juniors.. :)

Yes you are right about the mile relay
There was alot of mad people that day. He could have ran all freshman just to get the experience would have been huge. I guess if he thinks they cant win state why run? It was not a very good move thats for sure. And alot let him know it.

La Vega put all three relay teams in the state meet. Best wishes to each of them. And of course to Ryan Boutwell on discus from CS!!!!!

I know you didn't ask for high jump, but I have to brag about our girl from Monahans that cleared 5'8" at regionals. This will be her second trip to state. Last year as a freshman she placed 5th, not bad. So, Good Luck Kati!

He hit the electric wires a couple of times that streched across the field with the discus. they ran about 30 ft up and over 160' away from the ring.

yes really slow
Cuero had there 2 fastest runners hurt at distric meet. Had to go with kids in 9th grade to run at distric. But they both did good, will be alot better as they grow.

Now maybe I'm confused, but wouldn't a TAIL wind be behind the thrower, thereby making the discus go further, while a HEAD wind would be in his face, making it go less distance?

What's the big deal? Reg 4 is always known for its lack of speed. Region 1 is where you find all the speed. Just ask Go Blue, he'll tell you.:D

Van going to Austin finishing just behind Atl in Reg. 2 running a 42.96 4x100 relay. The team only has one senior Calhoun. One runner a freshman.

NO!! If you are familiar with the Discus event and aviation you will know that a head wind provides more lift to the discus than no wind . It keeps the discus in the air longer and allows it to travle farther. Aircraft carriers during WWII actualy turned into the wind in order to provied more lift to aircraft taking off. SO.. Its ok that you dont know about what makes a discus fly farther. BUT.. a head wind can improve a throw by anywhere between 5-15 feet depending on direction and speed. a tail wind is the worst. it takes a few feet off the distance because the discus has less lift and falls early.
