It may not be U.S. refineries they're talking about, but I have no doubt it is affecting our prices in a big way.

"I've got to think we're close to the end on increases," said Michael Lynch, president of Strategic Energy & Economic Research Inc. in Cambridge, Mass.

However, Lynch thinks prices could rise another 10 cents to 15 cents before they reach that peak and begin falling.

=============================================

My predicition... prices keep creeping up to the 3.70 range... then slowly settle back dowin in the 3.20s startging late summer.

I hope you are right. Something seriously wrong when I'm happy paying $3.20 a gallon for gas. :bigcry:

I hope so. It seems to me that any time some financial "genius" :rolleyes: :rolleyes: opens his mouth with a new projection, it's pretty certain to happen. (ex: "Even though gas is currently $2.99, we're predicting gas to reach $4.00 by summer" means that within 13 1/2 minutes gas goes up by $.24, then continues to rise every time someone blows their nose.)

so i can officially give up on ever seeing prices below 2.50...........i am getting old...i remember my mom giving $ 10 to fill my car and telling me not to waste my gas cause she wasn't giving me any more money....and i would ride for ever on the $10 worth of gas..... I almost feel for kids today.

Well, if my theory holds true, you need to "state" it will be below $2.50. After it hits $5.00 (because jason opened his mouth first), it will drop below $2.50. Of course, I forgot to tell you that "seeing" is all you'll do, since you had to sell your car before it hit $5. ;)

The lowest price I ever remember seeing was 69 cents here
in Sweetwater in the mid eighties.:eek:

back in 1998, I remember gas prices in Bridge City were down to .53 cents/gallon, that was only for a very brief time, but it hovered around .89/cents most of that year. Boy, what I'd give to fill up my truck for under $25.... I filled up yesterday @ $3.45/gal and it cost me $85.00

acording to ABC News, it'll probably go up about another .60 over the next 8 weeks, before we see it starting to fall.

Does anyone besides me remember "way back when" some places actually had rationing and "gas lines"? Now you've got doofuses (my apologies if I'm talking about anyone on here :p ) hauling butt in their Hummer.

I can remember the gas lines
My family were fuel jobbers, we owned 5 gas stations at one time
I can remember going to work when i was 8 yrs old and pumping gas for 23cents a gallon
I remember a woman handing me a 5 dollar bill and telling me to fill it up
I can also remember the 1st time I saw it over 1 dollar a gallon, 1978 in Natchez Mississippi, we were on vacation, had to wait in line for 1 hr to get gas, and they limited us to 15 gallons.
We got back to Elgin and dad figured the price, it was actually costing them 79 cents a gallon
